Another "duh" moment re: Lieberman |

Don't know why I didn't think of this before...
Why does joltin' joe stay in the race? big republican bucks pour into his campaign. he promises to caucus with the dems, not that his word means much. let's say he wins. then he resigns his seat to be appointed Secretary of Defense. Republican Governor Rell (currently strongly likely to be re-elected) appoints a republican to the seat. payback for the cash, joe's specialty.
the dems run the table, and still end up down one.
and there is a special place in hell, dinner by the fireplace for joe.
