Time to Revisit the Downing Street Memos

With everything that's come out lately from Rumsfeld threatening to fire people for talking about the aftermath of the Iraq War, to Abramoff's memo regarding the coming Iraq war in March 2002, I think it's time to tie these things together.

The Downing St. Memos were written in July 2002.

There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. The NSC had no patience with the UN route, and no enthusiasm for publishing material on the Iraqi regime's record. There was little discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military action.

Abramoff KNEW of the invasion MONTHS before the the British did in MARCH of 2002!

CREW sent the emails of Foley to the FBI in July 2006, and I do think the Foley story broke because of the coming together of Woodward's book and Abramoff's memo.

Newly-disclosed e-mails from the Minority Chair of the House Government Reform Committee Henry Waxman http://www.democrats.reform.house.gov/abramoff/index.as... provide new areas of insight into Jack Abramoff's closeness to the Bush administration. Most shocking of all (at least of those I've been able to read so far) is that Abramoff off-handedly mentions "the upcoming war in Iraq." The date--March, 2002.
