It took a sex scandal for the Republicans concede that they're in trouble.
After all of the lies and abuses of the Bush administration, it seems only one thing has really caught the attention of the American public, a sex scandal. Only now, the Republicans concede that they're in trouble.

After Foley, New Fears For the GOP
Some Say Party Could Lose House and Senate
By Dan Balz and Jim VandeHei

Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, October 3, 2006; Page A01

<snip> Republican strategists said yesterday that public revulsion over the sexually graphic online conversations between Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) and former House pages could compound the party's problems enough to tip the House to the Democrats in November -- and could jeopardize the party's hold on the Senate as well.
There was intense anger among social conservative activists in Washington yesterday, and some called for House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) to resign.

Republican operatives closely following the battle for the House and Senate said that they are virtually ready to concede nearly a third of the 15 seats the Democrats need to recapture control of the House, and that they will spend the next five weeks trying to shelter other vulnerable incumbents from the fallout of the Foley scandal in hopes of salvaging a slender majority.

Districts in which Republicans have effectively walked off the field include Foley's own in South Florida. House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) said in a radio interview with conservative commentator Sean Hannity that the party's replacement candidate is all but doomed. Because of ballot procedures in Florida, "to vote for this candidate, you have to vote for Mark Foley," Boehner said. "How many people are going to hold their nose to do that?"<snip>

1. SEX is all the GOP understands.
And if it's GAY SEX, well, that REALLY sends them off into the stratosphere!

Anything else is OK: lying, cheating, stealing, killing, crippling, all of it. You can take their rights away. You can gouge them at the pump, it doesn't matter. But when the private parts are involved, oh my...that's just too much!

Dumb f*cks. Too stupid to breathe. :eyes:

3. It's just like the poster I always see at the protests:
'Will someone please give him a blowjob already so we can impeach him?"

2. Pretty amazing, isn't it?
the fact that 150 people are dying every day in their war of opportunity doesn't even register.

4. Since it was all they could nail Bill Clinton for, sex is bad.
Everything THEY have done is double-plus-good. All those dead people, maimed people, orphaned people mean nothing. The emptying of the US Treasury into the pockets of those who already have the most is not a concern. The destruction of our very republic is just a means to an end.

But, sex, ah, that's the rub.

The don't seem to have much skill at noticing the difference of sex between consenting adults and sexual predators going after under-age federal employees. But their base knows it's about sex so they are busted.

Make love, not war. But do it with consenting adults for crying out loud!

6. Looking from the outside...
...what does the rest of the world take from this? The US government's actions, during the last 5 years, has killed how many people worldwide? They have watched us turn a blind eye to Bush throwing out the Geneva Convention and our constitution. The GOP congress has plundered our treasury and de-stablilized our economy, as the rich keep getting richer. After all this, the downfall of this criminal regime begins with a sexual e-mail from a US congressman to a child in the US. How self-absorbed do we look to the rest of the world? I would think parents in Afghanistan or Iraq wish the only thing they had to worry about was keeping their children safe on the internet. Also during this media firestorm, it gets more attention than the second incident in less than a week where an armed adult attacked a school terrorising and killing innocent children. What has happened to this country?
