Report to Rice Scary on a 10 out of 10 scale
Here’s how the briefing was described by the officials who prepared it, according to McClatchy:

One official who helped to prepare the briefing, which included a PowerPoint presentation, described it as a “10 on a scale of 1 to 10″ that “connected the dots” in earlier intelligence reports to present a stark warning that al-Qaida, which had already killed Americans in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and East Africa, was poised to strike again…

“The briefing was intended to `connect the dots’ contained in other intelligence reports and paint a very clear picture of the threat posed by bin Laden,” said the official, who described the tone of the report as “scary.”

Please let the charade end now and let reality once again BECOME reality.

8. It was described on NPR
by folks involved that they did everything but pull the trigger to the gun at her head. Pretty strong rhetoric, which underscores how serious this is.

2. Holding the Bush Administration accountable for their mistakes,
inaction, illegal activities, irresponsbility, and corruption is long overdue.

7. You should.
None of the other attacks killed more than a few hundred. To make America a great empire, with a totally secure energy source (think with their tools, not yours), wouldn't it be sensible to allow an attack to catalyze the country into accepting and encouraging your plans? Could you not tell yourself it would save many more lives in the end?

They did not imagine, because they have no imaginations, that it would be bigger than Pearl Harbor. Not even bin Ladin thought the towers would fall. (This is where I utterly part company with MIHOP fanatics who insanely believe the towers were mined with explosives. Too complicated and simply unnecessary. One plane in one office tower, 100 dead would have done the trick and administration hands shiny clean.) In bin Ladin's fantasies they probably stood crippled and broken against the sky of humiliated America for decades.

You know, I don't know if the vote will be affected by a million stockbrokers with respiratory problems, but it might. It was Wall Street and lots of millionaires who went back to work on the administration's all clear for the air.

9. It's PERFECTLY reasonable to look at it this way.
I can easily see them justifying the argumentthat "some" loss of life is a small price to pay, in the larger scheme of things (you know, like bush's "the war in Iraq will be just a comma" reference) - iron-clad energy monopolies and unchallengeable American supremacy all over the world for at least the rest of this century. It was a huge gamble with an even larger payoff (especially considering some of the PNACers were oilmen, oil investors, or oil industry sympathizers). One they were willing to take. Typical of big business, too, to factor in the cost of a few lost lives relative to the short-term AND longterm financial gains. What do they call it? The "cost/benefit analysis"? Airlines and other corporations with major public safety or welfare concerns do this routinely. It's shrugged off as merely the cost of doing business.

These people all pride themselves as worshipping the god "Business." They're the ones who always sing the praises of "running the government like a business." Well, I'd ask them what happens, you know, IN BUSINESS, when somebody royally fucks up. Do they get a medal and a promotion and a raise in pay? Or do they get their asses fired? So I guess the moral of the story is - these people don't REALLY believe in "running the government like a business." I think they regard it as running the government like an ATM.
