Here's the way I see it, folks.

I support the Democratic party. Period. I'd vote for a Democrat before I'd vote for Jesus Christ. During the CT primary, I supported Joe Lieberman. When he lost, I grudgingly became a Lamont supporter. I'm not a vocal Lamont supporter, and I have a definite opinion on how and why he won the race and what it means, but you all know this about me anyway. No big surprise. But I've mentioned on more than one occasion, the pragmatic part of me wants the guy with the "D" next to his name to win. Period.

That is why I have no problem with the DU rule that disallows support for Lieberman on DU.

But here is what I have a problem with. I have a problem with people on DU supporting a "progressive" organization (World Can't Wait) that discourages people from voting for and contributing money to Democrats.

I believe open support for such a group is a gross violation of the same rule that prohibits support of Joe Lieberman on DemocraticUnderground.

Do I care if people waste their time with such trash? No, because those prone to do so aren't likely voters, anyway.

Am I scared of such organizations? No. But I'm not scared of my next door neighbor's chihuahua either, but I don't want to hear the damn thing yipping and growling all day.

Just showing your face at any event by this organization gives them credibility - whether you intend to take their advice on not voting for Democrats or not.

The enemy of your enemy is not always your friend and I can't fathom anyone preferring a government run by the likes of C. Clark Kissinger anymore than one run by George W. Bush.

1. Did you want to name names?
How about stating what organization you are referring to and some links to posts so that we can then judge for ourselves the merits of your case?

4. Ah - you are just rekindling a flame war, as always.
No thanks. I will both protest on the streets and support Democratic candidates.

Same as you ever were.

11. You're supporting a group whose goal is the demise of the Democratic party
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 12:45 PM by wyldwolf
And I didn't think you could provide an example to support your factually challenged statement.

3. "Just showing your face at any event by this organization gives them...
...credibility."

What if I do? What if I do not donate a dime to them, vote Democratic (as I will) but go to their anti-Bush rally?

If a pictures surfaces of me at a rally like that and someone here recognizes me, should I be banned?

I'm interested to know what you think should be done with anyone who affiliates with "such trash"?

Also, please kindly provide me with a list of DU-approved rallys and events so that I may avoid such retribution.

5. see, this is exactly the kind of knee jerk reaction expected

I've not said nor implied DU should ban anyone for anything.

I'm interested to know what you think should be done with anyone who affiliates with "such trash"?

I don't give rat's ass. I just don't want them to openly support the group on DU - which I made very clear in my OP and which I believe the rules of this forum forbid.

Also, please kindly provide me with a list of DU-approved rallys and events so that I may avoid such retribution.

Since everything you wrote up to that point was irrelevant, that statement made zero sense.

No you have demanded that all discussion supporting this event and the organizers of this event be banned. Shame on you.

10. So Lieberman can be openly supported then? Is that your contention?
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 12:48 PM by wyldwolf
because the CT race is just one race, whereas this communist front group is working against the entire Democratic party - and that means EVERY race.

6. To me, it's about ideas, not groups
I don't really care who is part of which group and who supports who or what. I just pay attention to the ideas that people espouse.

13. if you want to march, make a sign and go outside
... but we should all refute any organization that advises us to send money to them and not our Democratic candidates.

14. surely you must know by now
that some people can snivel and get stuff removed and others not so much. Some people are butt-kissed by the mods and others not so much. It's the ebb and flow of DU. It is what it is.
