Building the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party.
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 02:51 PM by ClassWarrior
...(Progressive Democrats of America) is urging its members and all progressives to donate, organize and vote Democratic in November. It may involve some holding of noses in some districts, but the stakes are high and the road ahead is long. Progressives must support all the Democratic nominees --including Harman, Wynn and Duckworth as well as centrist Democrats who faced no progressive primary challenge -- so we can demand and expect the support of centrist Democrats when our candidates win future primaries.

So the first step in moving the country toward a progressive consensus is restoring Democratic control of the House this year. The ground can be gained for progressives. PDA was founded to do just that. Join us and the growing movement to take back our Party and our country!...

2. Hold your nose and vote...so that's what we're reduced to.
That's one hell of an inspiring campaign message.

7. Pelosi and Reid will not let him do anything
I read an article where they said he was acting nutty or something. They do not like him.

9. I can't find the article off the top of my head
I'll have to search for it, but here's something else she mentioned:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12612211/page/4/

I believe in the one I was originally referring to she called him ridiculous or something.

Do YOU think Pelosi and Reid have enough of a spine to let Conyers and the progressive leadership take lead? Hell, Pelosi is San Francisco's representative and won't even join the Progressive Caucus.

So we might as well just throw in the towel without trying, right?

11. I want the progressives to revolt if the Dems take over
I want them to get as many positions as they want, establishment Dems be damned. If they don't, I think a lot of people are going to step back and ask why we worked so hard to get them 2006.

12. I think your handle has a typo in it.
Shouldn't it be GiveUpHope?

I'm not doing anything for THEM in 2006. I'm doing it for myself, my family, and my nation. If WE win in 2006, whatever we do with it will be up to US. Ain't nobody gonna "give" us any hope that we don't already have in our hearts.

15. This has been the conundrum concocted by The Corporate Party
20 years or so, ago and has caused the mass desertions of our Democratic Party. It is quite deliberate and effective. :kick:

13. Like this one?
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/05/13/MNG94IRGOO1.DTL">House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco has told her caucus that the idea of impeaching President Bush isn't in the cards if the party takes over the House in November's elections....Pelosi already had been cool to a House resolution that calls for creating a special House committee to investigate the administration, proceedings that could lead to Bush's impeachment over such issues as prewar intelligence and warrantless eavesdropping on Americans' phone calls.

or this?

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/viewpoints/articles/0813maceachern0813.html">"Impeaching the president is so far-fetched it's ridiculous," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid told me last week while in Phoenix...

Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 01:43 PM by greyhound1966
How Democratic of you.

OK, that was needlessly snarky, my apologies.:toast:
It is just so frustrating that, once again we see a tiny cabal holding near total control of our party, and abusing that power to kill any and all progress.

22. Yup. For many years now...
The Democratic Party's campaign slogans have been little more than, "We don't want to kill you, just hurt you real bad" and "We're evil, but not as evil."

Pretty sad.

8. Thanks for the link, I signed up and look forward to advancing our
cause.
It is unfortunate that we do, in many cases, have to hold our noses to vote for the Democratic candidate, but it is what it is and they are what they are. The alternative, as I see it, is to let the re:puke:s win again and hope that it gets so bad that it incites a complete meltdown in this country, and I don't really want to see that.

...someday we won't have to hold our noses anymore when we support Dems.
