Should we call Congress pretending to be conservative Republickers... |
|
...could we (should we) find a way to manipulate The Republickers' far-right Christian Fundie base into turning the gay-bashing weapon against their own GOP congress-critters?
Yes, I know this scandal is about pedophiles-- not gay people-- but we know that the Republickers are eager for a way to turn this into a way to rally their base against gays. But what about some gay-bashing judo?
If the Republickers want to bash gays... how about we force them to start by rooting out and bashing those gays within their own party first?
Can we mobilize right-wing Christians in a grass-roots effort to demand that The GOP conduct an anti-gay witch hunt within their own party?
Could we organize the fundies to demand that the party that built itself up on bashing gays be willing to certify itself gay-free?
If the Republickers say gays can't even be trusted with a marriage license, then how can they say they can be trusted with a seat in Congress? Or trusted as Rick Santorum's Communications Director?
If the Republickers say that gay people can't be trusted on the battlefield, or even translating documents from Arabic, how can they be trusted to pass laws that effect the entire military from the Generals on down to the front-lines where gays aren't allowed to serve?
Would it be worth the cost to goad the Republickers into anti-gay in-fighting and forced outing of one another?
Would we want to bring the popcorn and watch a dozen "pro-family" Republickers crying on the Senate floor, apologizing to their families for living years of lies? Or would it ultimately become a Pyrrhic victory that eventually backfires?

1. While this is a very tempting proposal, ... |
|
I think that it would backfire on us. I actually believe that this has the possibility to play out negatively for the Republicans without our help.

4. You don't think it'll fizzle like the Jeff Gannon story? |
|
Or The Franklin Cover-up?

I've said before and I will say it again, if we stoop to their tactics, we are no better then them. Same applies to treatment of "detainees". We have to reclaim the moral high ground and get it right. Honesty and integrity are important.
