And who gets to decide who replaces him?

3. Depends ...... on several things .....
First, he might only resign his speaker's seat. Then he still remains a congressman and can stay running for reelection.

If he resigns from the House (not very likely) then it is up to Illinois election law.

6. I'd be surprised if he resigns his seat.
He'll likely resign as Speaker tomorrow (from my reading of things). If he *does* resign his seat that will mean that Repukes see less damage to all but surrendering Denny the Hut's seat to a Democrat. Consider how bad things would have to be for them to do that.

In other words, expect Denny the Hut to resign his leadership position. If he also resigns his seat, Denny will not be the only Repuke who is burnt toast.
