edited to add: it suggests that is one carrying burdens of corruption and gluttony. I've seen plenty of slim people who looked corpulent (Tom Delay comes immediately to mind)

Those corrupted, gluttonous souls who are overweight have that same appearance, only seemingly emphasized (I always think of Jerry Falwell...)
