1. Surprise, surprise. George Will has been denying anything but Ivy League
REALITY for nearly 40 years...

7. It's weird though...
I started this "Will Watch" thing after surveying DU readers to see whom they thought was the most formidable right-wing writer, as I was growing tired of critiquing GOP pundits who can't put a logical thought together.

Will, I was told, was the odds-on choice.

Thus far, I've found him all over the map...

Being mostly reasonable about AIDS:
http://vastleft.blogspot.com/2006/06/will-watch-adventure-begins.html

Cheerleading Shelby Steele's "I'm half-black, so I can try to stop the march of civil rights progress" act:
http://vastleft.blogspot.com/2006/06/will-watch-whitewashing-wh_115071779462339104.html

Admitting John Kerry was right:

In the end, I find him one of those guys who should know better, but whose scale always resets to Republican -- no matter how much GOP corruption and insanity has been placed on it.

8. Actaully, he is one I can stand to read, too. My only debate is that his
reality often ends at the borders of Northeastern country clubs. Hence your frustration and mine.

When he's good, he's very very good. When he's bad, he's sadly-shake-your-head-as-it's-buried-in-your=hands bad.

9. Hitchens used to be interesting sometimes...
... but he so badly wants a war of civilizations with Islam that he's given up his renegade independence (e.g., trashing Mother Terasa and praising the Viet Cong) in order to be an apologist for Bush and his insane Middle East policy.

11. heh - that's a great description of Will.
He's only good when he comes to the realization that there are no more lies left regarding a certain issue. Then he comes clean to side with reason.

2. "Will take a toll on Government collegiality?"
Where in the fuck have you been George? If the atmosphere for the last 12 years is what you regard as collegiality, you are a bigger liar than your columns have made you out to be! What a pompous bag of pus.

3. George Will is an old, overblown hack in love with seeing his
own words in print. No matter if he's irrelevant and totally off his rocker, he thinks he's the best thing since sliced packaged white bread.

5. When my dad was alive,
every time he saw George Will's face on T.V., he would yell, "Godammn Pimp!"

6. My Dad hated him too.

edit: I think that he has always harbored this desire to be Gore Vidal and that he knows that he just doesn't measure up.

10. Will coached Reagan for debates, then wrote reams abt how well
Reagan did. Will's role came out much later.

As I recall he always attacks govt programs but one time praised programs for developmentally damaged children. I was very surprised, but then I heard he had such a child. And then I heard later he divorced his wife and left this child with her.

PS. I can't stand his self-righteous, I know what's best for everyone demeanor.

12. Oh, you mean Tucker Carlson, Sr.?
Uh, George, no one gives a shit anymore that you used to chat with Nancy Reagan.

The only question that remains about your sad, pedantic little career is the rhetorical question haunting the 0.015% of the general public who still listens to/reads your stuff:

How can anyone so smoothly glib be so fucking totally WRONG?
