I want this headline: Democrats never blamed GOP for Lewinsky scandal
Most Democrats were pissed at Clinton for lying about his affair with Monica Lewinsky. I recall none who blamed Clinton's failures on the GOP, none who pointed out that numerous GOP politicians had previously done as bad or worse, none who blamed evolution, none who said in response, "but Nixon."

Given the GOP reaction in recent weeks, I think that should be headlined in every newspaper.

:hippie:

1. I do remember the "Vast right-wing conspiracy" argument
so I'm not sure if that's 100% true. Not that it was specifically about Clinton lying about his affair, but it was related to the Lewinsky situation IIRC.

9. I don't remember a major media outlet giving play to the notion
that Monica was a plant by the right-wingers ... I know that there were a bunch of people like us who speculated it, but not anybody who would be down on the Senate or House floor making a 1-minute speech ... or a major media person ...

12. Wasn't the OP about what democrats were saying?
Of course the media didn't play it up, but that doesn't mean there weren't some democrats saying it.

14. I was one who was saying it, too
and yes, there were plenty of Dems who said that Monica was a GOP operative ... but where, oh, where, are links to any high-level Dem (instead of water-cooler Dems taking a break from their job) who said this type of thing?

Hastert gets a national platform to forward the premise that this was being done by Dems, despite all the indications that the Repukes are the ones doing the reporting and exposing, and given to a network that shamelessly aired a campaign commercial for Repukes with "The Path to 9/11".

15. I believe that Hillary said it on the Today show
back in 1998. Although, she wasn't an elected official at the time.

The politicians may not have explicity done that, but, Larry Flint did a darn good job of it...lol

3. I was angry at right wing then.
Clinton used bad judgement...but there was a right wing conspiracy. They'd been trying to get him since Arkansas, but since he knew that he should have been careful, no matter if a 22 year old flashed her thongs.

I didn't blame republicans for the affair but I did blame them for setting him up. Impeachment shouldn't be about a consensual affair. So he lied. First man ever to lie about an affair, I know. But I was plenty angry.
They always talked about what he exposed the children to by this. Hello? He did it in private. He didn't release starr's lurid report.

4. sadly, maybe we should have -
GOP, the party of blame.

I actually think we should run em as far up a rail as we can. Some serious nastiness is in order given their moral hypocrisy.

6. My self-hating-Jewish-Republican friend thinks that, too...
He also thought Clinton helped The United Nations hide troops in our National Parks, and Clinton had black helicopters spying on us.

He also thinks Liberals are like Nazis.

I don't know why I still call him "friend."

The other day, I told him he's the most intellectually dishonest person I have ever met.

Oh, he's a Republican that doesn't hate gay people.

That's like being a Nazi who doesn't hate Gypsies.

There is NO SUCH THING as a "moderate" Republican.

13. Guilty as charged
I sure as hell did. I didn't blame Republicans for President Clinton's poor judgment and lack of self control. I didn't blame Republicans for his performance under oath. But I do blame them for making it an impeachable offense. I blame Republicans for preaching to the American people when many were guilty of far worse. President Clinton's dalliance wasn't worth tearing the country apart with an impeachment.

I blamed them then, I still blame them today. They are the worst kind of hypocrites. I miss Bill Clinton. I wish we had him back in office today.

/end of rant
