Now, recall the Lieberman-Lamont debate:
LIEBERMAN: ... That was the right decision, and now the president will have to do what he should have done earlier, come to Congress and negotiate a legal way to treat the detainees at Guantanamo .
And please understand that there's nothing in that court decision that orders us to release those detainees.
They are dangerous. And the last thing we want to do is release them. -------------------------------
And so Lieberman has made this all legal by voting in favor of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 which again provides retroactive pardons for all those involved. Check out the rollcall:
