A simple truth : The Democrats are better at governing than the Repubs...
The primary reason the Democrats are better at governing is that Democrats believe we can be stronger if we work together for the benefit of all. It is called "government". Republicans do not believe in government beyond national defense. Their objective is always to "cut" government. Government is always "too big". Their job is not to find solutions that make the lives of our citizens better. That job is left up to the Democrats.

We have seen how dangerous it is to put people in charge of government that do not believe in government. It is a threat to us domestically as well as internationally. The American people made a great mistake by putting the Republicans in charge. Hopefully that mistake can be reversed.

1. They also put loyalists in every little position
that they can find--people who don't know anything about the departments that they are supposed to be leading but who spend their time inserting propaganda into every little nook and cranny.

2. Actually, its only a talking point for the Right...
which of there issues isn't?...Under Poppy Bush the government grew, and probably has with the Bush*-Cheney administration too. Actually, Clinton trimmed the government workforce.

But your point about Republicans running government into the ground gained favor with Regan. In the last 25 years, the Republicans have tried to commit a lot of money to defense so they can starve the social programs. No one talks about the surplus of Social Security contributions anymore. That money is just rolled over into the defense budget.

3. Yes, they believe in spending....
on defense, war machines, Star Wars, etc... but they do not believe in spending for any social programs that might help people. They spend money on those other wasteful programs to prevent the money from being spent on people.

14. Clinton trimmed the government workforce.
But not government. Don't get the two confused. Clinton made government run better, smoother with less overhead. However he increased government in the way it helps people. He took college loans out of the private (usurious) industry and had the government itself issue the loans at no or very low interest, he created more land protections than we had before, he made government work for the people which is its whole point of being and the Bush* Cabal is and has done/doing everything anti Clinton. They have undone everything Clinton put into place and we see the results on a daily basis. Government is not bad. That is one more Republican LIE.

4. But Republicans are better at getting elected
The sad truth is that if you don't get elected you don't get to govern. Democrats have to get serious about winning elections.

My web site, http://www.blueworksbetter.com, is dedicated to reporting the difference in results between Liberal policies and Right-wing policies. As readers can see, Liberal policies result in much better outcomes - lower crime, better health, higher incomes, etc.

11. The Washington Monthly spelled this out awhile back. . .
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2006/0607.wolfe.html

(snip)
Conservatives cannot govern well for the same reason that vegetarians cannot prepare a world-class boeuf bourguignon: If you believe that what you are called upon to do is wrong, you are not likely to do it very well.
