College Republican Twerp vs. upstanding, ethical Democrat (NC race)
Tom Delay-wannabe, Republican Rep.Patrick McHenry of North Carolina's 10th Congressional district is being challenged by Democrat Richard Carsner. McHenry is the dweeb who said on air last night that the Democrats have a responsibility to "clear their name" over the Mark Foley scandal -- even though it's a 100% Republican House leadership issue.

Compare and contrast Smug Face with Richard Carsner:

Solid citizen (Richard Carsner):

Dweeb (Patrick McHenry):

McHenry: "Served" as a treasurer for the College Republicans, doing useful things like greeting public visits by Hilary Clinton while wearing a prison outfit.

Carsner: Served in the United States Army

Richard Carsner's position on the issues:
Issues
Jobs

It is imperative that we either repeal or renegotiate the NAFTA, CAFTA, and Fast Track agreements and negotiate new trade agreements that are equitable and protect American workers. I also support an increase in the Federal minimum wage.

Healthcare

We must, as a nation, make sure affordable healthcare is available to all Americans.
Education

Education of our young people is necessary to keep this nation competitive; but it is necessary for the Federal Government to keep their promises when it comes to funding mandated educational programs. Our youth are our future, and we must provide the best education available. This starts with providing the best trained and well paid teachers, and modern facilities.
Social Security

We must make the Social Security Program solvent for future generations. Changing to private savings plans is not the answer. Diverting contributions to the current plan will only put the current plan in jeopardy much sooner. We need to remove the cap on deductions and fine tune the current system, not change it.
Energy Policy

We need to develop alternative fuels, wind generated power, additional nuclear power, solar, and hydro-electric power. There is no single answer, but we can not continue to be held hostage to foreign oil.

Environment

We must protect our environment for future generations and the health of our current generation. We must pass additional legislation to safeguard our air and our water by enforcing our current laws. Our wilderness and National Forests and Parks must be preserved and protected for future generations.

Smirk-boy's position on the issues:
"REPRESENTATIVE PATRICK T. MCHENRY REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY
RESPONSES TO CITIZENS ON ISSUES THROUGH THE 2006
NATIONAL POLITICAL AWARENESS TEST WHEN ASKED TO DO SO BY

Key national leaders of both major parties including:
John McCain, Republican Senator
Geraldine Ferraro, Former Democratic Congresswoman
Michael Dukakis, Former Democratic Governor
Bill Frenzel, Former Republican Congressman
Richard Kimball, Project Vote Smart President"

Fortunately, Project VoteSmart has some special interest group ratings of McHenry:

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the The Humane Society of the United States 0 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights 0 percent in 2005.

Summer 06 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the Conservative Index - The John Birch Society 53 percent in Summer 06.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the National Education Association 0 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the League of Conservation Voters 11 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the Children's Defense Fund 11 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the American Public Health Association 12 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers 17 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Worker 17 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the Service Employees International Union 6 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the United Auto Workers 14 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the Alliance for Retired Americans 0 percent in 2005.

2005 Representative McHenry supported the interests of the Disabled American Veterans 0 percent in 2005.

............

Apparently, McHenry is serving in a the most red district of NC. However, Richard Carsner deserves our support, as he would be an outstanding public servant replacing a pathetic public disease.

2. I saw that jerk
On TV yesterday and couldn't believe my eyes or ears. First ,I couldn't believe anybody was stupid enough to elect that idiot, then I couldn't believe the drivel that came out of his mouth.

I can't believe the republican voters think democrats "talk down to them" and that's why they won't vote for them. The GOP is very fond of that talking point.

But look at threse asswipes pretending to be one of the guys while the whole time, they think they're more important than anyone else. GWB is a great example of that. This smirking clown is another fine example.

I really do think people who vote republican and are not rich are fucking stupid. Stupid is as stupid does.

4. Rick Santorum ...
Is playing EVERY possible angle trying to save his butt ... BIG ads from the NRA for him, and I saw a billboard with him that had a half cocked shotgun slung over his shoulder, NO JOKE ...

Do the freaks who vote for these people actually believe Rick Santorum is THAT guy, that he for one single day of his life has ever been a true sportsman ...

You noted Bushco ... I had someone I worked with back in 2000 who is a real sportsman ... Put one of those freakin Bush for Sportsman bumper stickers on the back of his beat up SUV ... It just drove me nuts ... First, again, do these people actually believe Bush is a sportsman ??? Second, you talk to any sportsman, and they will say it isn't just about hunting, it is about being in nature ... Well, there is NO bigger environmental disaster than this freakin president, with a nod to my guy Santorum ... These people go out of their way to take a crap on our environment ... BUT, the NRA says Ds are going to take all our guns, and that people like these freaks are "good americans" ...

Just mindbending ...

3. How does this race
look for the Dems? Saw McHenry on Hardball last night. He sounded like an idiot. Just what we need, more idiots in Congress.

Hope the people of NC's 10th District send him packing. He looks like he's young enough to sign up and do a couple of tours in Iraq anyway.

6. Unfortunately, McHenry's district is considered the most
reliably GOP in all of North Carolina. I'd like to see the DNC put up a fight for Carsner just the same.
