Murphy visits Fitzpatrick conferenceBy BRIAN SCHEID
Bucks County Courier Times
A SURPRISING VISITORCongressman Mike Fitzpatrick, R-8, had an unexpected guest at a press conference Wednesday: Patrick Murphy, the Democrat running against him. Members of both campaign staffs frequently appear at press conferences put on by the other side. This week, for example, Mike Conallen, Fitzpatrick's chief-of-staff showed up at a press conference Murphy held on Thursday in Middletown, and Kevin Treiber, Murphy's veterans coordinator, attended Fitzpatrick's press conference Friday in Newtown Township.
Murphy's appearance at Fitzpatrick's press conference, however, was the first time either candidate had appeared at an opposing press conference. At the Wednesday press conference, where Fitzpatrick blasted Murphy for having “weak support” of Israel, Murphy stood just a few feet in front of the incumbent.
Afterwards, Murphy held an impromptu press conference of his own where he called Fitzpatrick's claims “absolutely outrageous.”With just a month left before the Nov. 7 election, staff members of both campaigns have told reporters to expect even more press conferences as Election Day nears. No word yet on whether Fitzpatrick and Murphy plan to hold their press conferences at the same time and place as a way to save time.

Clinton to stump for MurphyBy BRIAN SCHEID
Bucks County Courier Times
Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Bristol. The country's 42nd president will appear at a rally Wednesday morning for Democrat Patrick Murphy on a stage in the middle of the intersection of the borough's Mill and Wood streets, according to Dan DeRosa, Murphy's deputy communications director.
“Bucks County loves him and I think it's very exciting to have the former leader of the free world coming to Bristol,” Murphy said Friday. “It shows we have great momentum in our campaign and it shows we're going to win in 32 days.”
Murphy, an Iraq war veteran, is locked in a fierce race with freshman Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, R-8. Wednesday's event will mark Clinton's first campaign appearance for Murphy but not the first time the two have appeared on a stage together.

Murphy targeted by Iraq war vetsBy BRIAN SCHEID
Bucks County Courier Times
Two Iraq war veterans have accused Democratic congressional candidate Patrick Murphy of mischaracterizing what he did in that war-torn country. The charge provoked an angry response from Murphy, who charged incumbent Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, R-8, with trying to “swiftboat” him.
Even Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., whose military record was attacked in his 2004 presidential bid, entered the fray Friday by releasing a statement blasting Fitzpatrick for holding a press conference where Murphy's military record was criticized.
