Michigan Caucus Stories
So what's the scoop Michigan?

What is the mood out there today? Post you observations as you voted today!

Here's what I saw....

My wife and I voted and asked the poll workers about the amount of voters that they had seen so far. They stated that there was a heavy turnout. This was only within about an hour of the polls being open.

We then picked up a friend and took her to the polls. This was a different polling place from earlier. They stated that the polls were busy, also.

Not a scientific analysis, but maybe there's going to be a big turnout today.

1. Huge turnout
in Grand Rapids and surrounding areas. Rockford which is heavily Repubican had big turnout. Republicans crossing over...very angry here with so many job losses.

6. Great news
I don't think Bush will win Michigan; he's in serious trouble in the Rust Belt states.

13. Can you give your impression as to who Repubs back?
There's chatter about registered Republican voters crossing over for the caucuses only, and backing Kerry massively (really disproportionately so.)

Does your impression tally with that?

14. Probably doesn't matter.
The governor endorsed Kerry. Her husband works for the Kerry campaign.

10. Granholm endorsement.
What do you think of Governor Granholm's endorsement considering her husband works for the Kerry campaign? Should she have just stayed silent?

12. Massive turn-outin the north
Here in Traverse City (Rethuglican stronghold) we had a MASSIVE turn-out!! It was great! I must have signed up 50-60 new members to the party!!

We were jammin' almost the whole time we were open (10-4). It was a great day for the party here! I've no results to share, I'm sorry about that but I thought you all would like to know what I had to tell you.

Lastly, so many who joined today, they said they'd never joined a party before, been involved in politics, voted in a caucus and all kinds of other nevers. The one reason they all gave was "Bush".

It was a beautiful thing DUers. :toast:
