Prostitution business booming in New Orleans |
|
With an estimated 50,000 out of town workers "away from their families with money to blow" working in the Big Easy its like "The Super Bowl" for sex workers according to James Scott, Commander of the New Orleans Police Department's Intelligence Division. Arrests are way up but the city does not have enough Jail space to hold them so many are arrested, given municipal summonses and then are back on the street within minutes.
No sign of the religious zealots striving to end this situation. The same zealots who love to take their videocams outside the gay bars in the city for hours and hours and hours to prove the debauchery of gays. (or for private consumption??) The same zealots who could go down bourbon street a few blocks and videotape heterosexual debauchery, but don't. I guess they have their priorities.

2. Based on what I saw when I visited NO |
|
- some of those "heterosexual encounters" may *not* be. :P
All joking aside, the "prostitution business" has ALWAYS been a staple of NO's "economy" and it's draw. Kinda like that Las Vegas thing - what happens there stays there, mentality.
Besides, they're just a bunch of poor (usually black) folks, so who cares.......
(Just to ensure no one misunderstands: :sarcasm: intended by that last statement.)

I mean, if you put it in figurative context........just consider how many Katrina victims they've fucked.
