Emails between me and GM re: Sean Hannity and his Cadillac Promotion
Here they are, starting with my original email and my response of today. I don't recall who posted the link to GM customer relations about Sean Hannity and the Cadillac promotion, but I am sending a thank you!

MY ORIGINAL EMAIL:

Comments : Today, I learned with utter HORROR that you are using Sean Hannity as a spokesperson. I have owned Cadillacs and other GM vehicles consistently since 1973. Today, I went out and shopped for a new Honda. I will NEVER under any circumstances patronize ANY business who has ANY association with a piece of garbage like Sean Hannity. You can kiss this 30-year-plus customer "good-bye" and I am blunt enough to name the spot where you could put that kiss, but I am betting you can guess where.

GM's RESPONSE:

Subject: RE: GMC Advertisement Comment

Service Request: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Customer Relationship Specialist: Bruce Mitchell

Dear XXXX XXXXXX,

Thank you for your feedback and comments.

GM is a prominent advertiser in America and to tell our story we advertise across a tremendously wide array of media trying to connect with all customers irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.

The current promotion on Sean Hannity’s program is not intended to create controversy or support for any political view. Rather, it is designed to generate interest in our world-class lineup of vehicles. Sean Hannity has not been hired as a spokesperson nor is he receiving compensation from GM.

Again, we appreciate your views and thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Sincerely,

The General Motors Consumer Support Team

MY REPLY TODAY:

ANY association with Sean Hannity as far as I am concerned spells POISON in my book. This is a man who is out supporting MARK FOLEY ~~ the US Congressman who resigned because he was sexually exploiting minors involved in the Page Program. If you care to associate with that type of person, then you can kiss my patronage good-bye. I am in the process of buying a new Honda ~~ not a new Cadillac ~~ and I will NEVER buy another new Cadillac again as long as you have ANY association with the likes of Sean Hannity. If you wish to have a pedeophile-supporter such as Hannity involved with you, of course, that is your business. But, as a parent and consumer, I choose to take my business elsewhere.

Are you telling me that you are now reaching out to pedeophile-supporters? Heck of a market you are looking to appeal to. You know, you ARE KNOWN by the people you associate with. Ever hear that before? You chose to associate with Sean Hannity. I don't do business with people who associate him. I am passing your email along to others who find Hannity's support of Foley to be utterly disgusting. I am sure they will also look upon you in less than a favorable light. I could not care less if he was receiving no money from you or even if he was paying you for the promotion he is running. You lie down with dogs ~~ you get fleas. At this point in time, all you have done is disgust me further about GM policies and "appealing" to all segments of society. Hey, go after the pedeophile-supporters all you want. You must be really hungry for business to support trash like that.

I spoke to a friend who is a life-long Caddie buyer. He started in 1972 when he could first buy a new Cadillac. He was about to buy his 6th or 7th one. I told him that GM is now associated with Sean Hannity and if he did not believe me, to check it out for himself. He did and he is now looking at Jaguars.

Corporate America .... :puke:

4. Thanks!
And a thank you to all the nice comments I received.

I am hoping the GM gets enough static that they will pull that promotion from Hannity. There truly is nothing lower than Sean Hannity and I am totally disgusted by his support of and excuses for Foley. Maybe if corporate America got a few mails that told them how disgusted people are with jerks like Hannity and the policies and people he supports, they would stop supporting these jerks!

I just hope that someday and sometime a corporation would actually take individual notice of consumers.

8. When I read between the lines on that BS...
...what I read was:

"Sean Hannity has not been hired as a spokesperson nor is he receiving compensation from GM but we are giving a ton of money to Fox to run that since they support the Republicans and that is good for big corporations like GM."

How STUPID does GM think American consumers are? :eyes:

NO ONE is doing any of this for free!

10. Damn... I Didn't Even Get a Canned Reply.
Didn't even get the courtesy of a canned response to my e-mail -- which ironically also mentioned buying a Honda instead of a GM product.

In my case, though, I was about to buy a Chevy truck. Maybe us Chevy buyers don't rate as high as the Caddy buyers? <G>

14. "not intended to create controversy"
Does that matter? Any good marketing or advertising person would be more concerned about what it does create, regardless of what it was "intended" to create or not.

16. Not sure on the original email addie.
There was a thread on DU about Hannity and the Caddie promotion with a link to the GM comment page. No email addie showed on this comment page ~~ just one of those "fill in the blank" thingies. When I did get a reply, there was an email as seen on my OP. That is all I can tell you about this. Oh, I did get one of those "do not reply" emails from GM when I first commented ~~ just to acknowledge that they had received my email, but that addie would not seem to get back to them with comments you might want to make.

It seems like a few others got email back....I am wondering if they got it from the same GM email addie.

Wish I could help you out! Sorry....:hi:

i also realized 6 of my 8 vehicles have been gm brand

and they tell me they are just reaching america

when i walk into a business and see fox on,it tells me the business is literally saying f u to half the u.s.

18. I hear you!!
I will NOT remain as a captive audience at ANY business which has a TV going and FAUX SNOOZE channel is on. I don't merely ask to have the channel changed, I ask to speak to whomever is in charge and let them know my total dissatisfaction with what they are supporting. I have made it VERY clear on several occasions that if they continued to have the TV tuned to that station, they can count me out as a patron.

I have also followed up these complaints with letters in regard to FAUX SNOOZE channel tuned in to the CEO, owner, etc. How nice that the internet does provide a ton of info as to who is in charge of most business entities and how to contact them.

I can tell you this much ~~ now that FAUX SNOOZE anchors and commentators are literally being the cheerleaders for that pedeophile Mark Foley, you can imagine the tone of what I will say if and when I ever encounter another business that has its TV tuned to that piece of shit network.

As far as I am concerned, when a lot of patrons, clients and customers start making it known that their dollars and patronage will go elsewhere and not be spent at any location or business which is Neocon friendly maybe some of the corporations and fat-cat business owners will stop supporting the RW assholes that are in the government now.

I don't know if my bitching does any good, but, hey, if there are a bunch of us doing this, then hopefully the GOP ~~ Grand Old Perverts ~~ will have less money in their campaign chests. Newsmeat is a good source to see what corporations and business owners make political contributions to.

I will be damned if my hard-earned money is going to support any business that supports those asshole RW pieces of shit!

20. The TV in our office building was always on Fox, and everyday
I would say to the security guard, why is that on fox? What are you guys doing? They would say they don't decide, someone else decided - and then suddenly one day it was on CNN Headline and now mostly on sports (world cup, baseball etc.).
