Jeffords asks GOP group to stop using his picture in Rainville adBy Wilson Ring, Associated Press Writer | October 9, 2006
MONTPELIER, Vt. --U.S. Sen. James Jeffords asked a GOP group Monday
to stop using his picture in a television commercial promoting
Republican U.S. House candidate Martha Rainville.
In a letter to Tom Reynolds, the chairman of the National Republican
Congressional Committee, Jeffords said the ad implied he was supporting
Rainville, the former head of the Vermont National Guard.
"That is not true," said Jeffords, I-Vt. "Consequently, I am requesting
you cease running the advertisement immediately."

leader, I feel very strongly that the country will be better served
with the Democrats gaining control of the House of Representatives
in the 110th Congress," the letter said. "Therefore, for this election
I believe Peter Welch is a better choice for Vermont," Jeffords said
in his letter.
