2. How do GLBT folks feel about this?
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 04:20 PM by wryter2000
That's a question because I honestly have mixed feelings about it. I'm assuming we're talking about gayness here, not pedophelia. As we all know, gays aren't pedophiles.

OTOH, gay R's in high places are actively hurting other gays with their policies. Then, there's the whole hypocrisy question. But on the whole, I think people should out themselves.

And on edit: If this happens, is there any chance the outted R's could out folks who aren't doing any harm but having come out yet?

15. I'm queer. Out the asshole and all the other ones they can find.
Gay Repubs hiding in DC and working for those who hate us should be shown for the hypocrites that they are.

21. Gay republicans should be exposed and/or outed
It could actually do their party more good. Log Cabin rethugs could do more than just cowering behind the curtains while they support a party that exploits us for political gain (coming from a gay person).

Maybe zealots who have hijacked the right will become so pertrified that gays are lurking in their mist they either
a) build a Mayflower and go to Iran
b) stop using gays as a scapegoat and stfu
c) let their true bigotted feelings show and pruge the gays from the Republican party

all good options

6. Being hypocritical is one thing, but the GOP used gay marriage as a wedge
issue for the 2004 elections. So they can suffer any consequences of that now. If they hate gay people so much, they should be the first to cut the ties with their gay staffers and officials, though it sounds like there will suddenly be about a 50% unemployment rate in the Republican party if that happens!

7. Is that a lot of money for a staffer?
I think an ad against Deborah Pryce (R-OH) said she made $130,000 a year. What is the average pay for a Representative these days?

8. As if revealing someone is gay is like a death sentence....

I understand he only outs people in decision and policy making positions and only if they have worked against gays.

go for it.

20. but why stop there?
If its hypocritical for a gay person to be a staffer for a repug that works against gays, what about a secretary in the same office? Or an intern? Or what about a staffer who has a gay brother or sister...isn't it hypocrical of them to work against gay rights?

And did Rogers give any evidence to back up his outing or are we just to assume everything he says is 100 percent factually accurate?
