2. Done! This poll needs help! |
|
en it comes to the Dixie Chicks' outspoken political views, which of the below best fits your opinion?
1. Enough already! They are out of line 46% 2. Heroes for speaking up 29% 3. Political views? They can think what they like, I'm just a fan of their music 25%
I bought four copies of The Dixie Chicks' last album, Taking The Long Way, and gave them out as gifts to my father's family of Republican in-laws from Virgina.

5. Possibly Heroes, but... |

... I don't think they'd see it that way. They were just making a statement. Actually the poll looks like it's in their favor, because options 2 & 3 are both positive toward the chicks (at least that's how a read it), so it's 54% positive and 46% negative. There are always going to be the fools who will defend that idiot (bush -- in case I wasn't clear on that one) no matter what, and unfortunately, it appears that a large percentage of them prefer country music. Possibly this is why a lot of folks are turned off by country in general -- I know that was my experience.
I love country music -- grew up on it. When I was a kid, country music didn't follow any political agenda, but they, like other areas in society, allowed themselves to be hijacked by the extreme right wing, and I don't even think they realized it. Some of them may have, but I think some just got swept up in the rip current.

I appreciate the link, and will give it a listen when things settle down and I'm able to enjoy it -- maybe this afternoon.
