1. It's a sex predator case. It'd be shocking if there wasn't more.
Who knows when it'll come out though.

8. Well it's more the fact I read the blogger Steve Gillard say it..
...And he made a very compelling case, citing, for instance, the Roman Catholic boy molestation scandals. (But I knew all about similar scandals outside the US years ago. The US is late to the party on that one.) The simple fact that predators hide their deeds so that they can get away with more means that there is a tip-of-the-iceberg effect. So we'll see what comes up from under the surface.

4. More importantly, the economy is a shambles, war is hell,
NOLA is still a mess, there are no resources to deal adequately with with next natural disaster, the moist Southeast got 58% of the fed money for fire fighting while the arid west goes up in smoke, and the Bill of Rights has been run through the shredders on Capitol Hill.

I wonder if we can get voters to remember any of THOSE stories

7. I am with you on this havocmom, I really am!
But this Foley mess is something that gives all the things you mention in your post (the really important things, imo) their perspective in the RNC scheme of things.

We have to be prepared to answer the attacks from the other side, so as to gain credibility with the rest of America.

Great post... amd I agree -- You should give your thought s a thread of their own. They are THAT important!

11. See reply #9. I will count on you for backup later too, TC
We may have a good start out of the gate for some more substanitive discours after Olbermann does his report this evening.

I am thinking of donning a black armband to mourn the passing of our American Rights. Think anyone will notice?

12. indeed, indeed
At this point, I don't care which gets them to vote anti-repub, so long as they do. Then we can work on the rest. I mean, I do care about all those things, very very much, and am appalled that it took a sex scandal to wake people up, but will take what we can as we can.

I think the Foley thing was the last straw for many people. The media coverage showed the administration disconnect of Katrina and got many people to look askance at them. Foley completed the turn around of those people. As 1 person put it to me "we gave them the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but they have lied too much to be able to believe them about anything".
