My LTTE on North Korea
Beaumont Enterprise (Southeast Texas)

Let's see...first we had a president who said that he would not allow rogue nations to have nuclear weapons, then used that excuse to invade a country that did not have the means to develop them. In this endeavor he ignored the UN and the rest of the world, with time having proven the opponents of the war absolutely right.

North Korea should have been stopped from developing nuclear weapons and testing long-range missiles (even the failed tests yields important results for future weapon design). Unfortunately, the current administration has put America at great risk with one more entry in their list of miserable failures.

Before the obvious "But Clinton…" responses, know this: in April 2002, three months after saying they were part of an "Axis of Evil," Bush released $95 million to North Korea as part of the 1994 agreement with the Clinton administration. However, Bush waived the agreement's requirement to allow inspectors to ensure North Korea was not taking weapons-grade plutonium from their reactors. Bush said that this decision was "vital to the national security interests of the United States."

So, in summary, Bush decided to give money to Kim Jong Il without safeguards. Soon after, they opened up the nuclear facilities that had been closed and threw out all UN inspectors. And now they have their nuclear bomb.

We should all be thankful to GWB and his friends for safeguarding America from dictators with no means to strike us, while allowing our true enemies to develop the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.
