AP: Bush Says Democrats Would Raise Taxes
Bush Says Democrats Would Raise Taxes

By JENNIFER LOVEN
The Associated Press
Tuesday, October 10, 2006; 5:37 PM

MACON, Ga. -- President Bush said Tuesday a vote for Democrats
in the Nov. 7 election is a vote for higher taxes.

Changing his election-year focus from national security to the
economy, the president criticized Democrats at a fundraiser
for former Republican Rep. Mac Collins. Collins is seeking a
comeback by challenging Rep. Jim Marshall, D-Ga., in one
of the few seats the GOP hopes to snatch.

Bush singled out recent comments by House Minority Leader
Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Rep. Charles Rangel of New York,
the top Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee.

"If you want to keep your tax cuts, vote Republican on Nov. 7,"
Bush said.

Pelosi has urged that Bush-era tax cuts be rolled back for those
above "a certain level" of income. She mentioned annual incomes
of $250,000 or $300,000 a year and higher, and said tax rates
for those individuals might revert to rates of the Clinton era.

Yes, Bush's statement is misleading. The Repubs have nothing left but fear.

1. .
Well, if it was another of those 10k dollar a plate fundraisers, then he could be right.
So here we see him fighting hard for the tax cuts of the millionaires.

Too bad the truth is that the Democrats have to raise taxes to pay for his spending binges....

Oh yeah and we are so responsible that we want to pay for things now with our own money instead of owing interest to the Chinese..

18. It won't work this time
We have to raise taxes and we need to tell people up front about it. If we "hide" it, we'll get reamed later.

7. Better stated: Higher taxes for the wealthiest, and lower taxes
for the rest of you. Redistribution of wealth is in order.

19. EXACTLY RIGHT

Who has shown less ability to govern than the "BUSH FAMILY"both father and son born with a silver spoon in their mouths.
NEITHER have a clue of how the majority live. Both ran huge deficits, started wars for polictical gain, and think spending like a druken sailor and making messes others have to clean up is ok,because neither has ever finished what they started,or lived on their own earnings!

9. why don't they just say it
just admit that taxes will have to raised. It is kinda obvious that only middle income pays the most anyway. I know, I do taxes for a living.

Personally, I favor a flat POS tax for everyone. Every single drug dealer, hooker, heck, even your child's teenage babysitter...everyone pay a flat 10% on every single purchase.
We'd see a huge increase of tax revenue immediately.

12. The poor would be hurt most by this.
People who pay very little income tax now would end up paying more. I don't favor flat POS tax.

11. Bush didn't finish the sentence: raise taxes on the super rich!
The same message is being pounded by the GOP against Democratic challenger Baron Hill: "He will raise taxes," the commercials say without mentioning that it is the super rich that have gotten the bulk of the tax cuts. "He refused to endorse marriage being between a man and woman," is the new anti Baron Hill commercial unveiled today. I expect the GOP to start saying that Baron Hill supports Bin Laden.

I am so sick of GOP propaganda that I spit nails every time I see their shit on TV.

14. Taxes
The only way the upcoming Democratic COngress could raise taxes Is if Bush signed them. The only taxes that could be raised over Bush Is not making his tax Cuts permeant.

15. Big fucking deal
Someone has to pay for all this crap.

Bush should be demanding a tax increase to pay for his war. It's expensive and we all must sacrifice for the good of the country. :sarcasm:

16. when you cut taxes for someone
you raise taxes on someone else, whether they are a current taxpayer or a future tax payer that has to pay off al the debt. The only possible exception is when you have a big surplus which clearly doesn't apply here. The really bad thing is, we are raising a future person's taxes exponentially but not cutting current taxes exponentially.

Everyone should figure out how much taxes they paid last year (include everything: sales, gas, property, income, FICA, Medicare etc because you know those assholes do) and be ready to counter "The Middle class doesn't pay any taxes." Because it's total bullshit. That fat sh*t Denny Hastert said people making 40K don't pay any taxes. Well I WISH I made 40K and I paid several thousand dollars in taxes last year so stick it up your ass Denny!

17. That's a twist on reality
They won't necessarily "raise" taxes, but most likely stop the Bush cuts, like the inheritence tax, from becoming permanent. Ergo "raising" taxes. Would you like the treasury to continue to hemorage, or slow it's diarreah into the red?

21. They can have back my "tax cut". I really don't need the extra $11
a month I got. I'd rather pay that money in taxes if it means that the very wealthy will have to pay their share instead.

It's so sickening to see Bush campaign against another Vietnam vet in Georgia. After what they did to Cleland, they should not be allowed in the State.
