How Bush speaks in religious code

Recent KO comments might have some DUers wondering about how Bush et al are inserting coded wording and phrases into their public comments. It's not a new topic, just an under-reported one.
Here a Boston Globe story from 2004:

If you had not been raised religious nor read the Bible, you would not pick up on the "Code". It was there and it was strong.

What is sad is that these right wing Christians voting for W actually hurt charities helping the poor.

W cut the bill to give tax credits to charities serving the poor.

And duping the Evangelicals is what got him where he is today.
In light of yesterday's revelations stating Bush and Rove think the Evangelicals are "nuts"..

He can use all the code he wants; the fact remains he's been exposed as a fraud and hypocrite.
Unless, he comes across with wheelbarrows full of money, appropriating funds to their non-profit charities.

He'll get the support of a limp noodle.

Anything that has a remotely religious tinge to it. ANYTHING. Remember back when he made that speech in New Orleans after Katrina, in the one tiny sliver of the city that was still pretty-looking and expertly staged and lit? And he mentioned "a house not built by hands"? A good clue is to be aware of the passages that sound, well, a little embroidered. Where he tries to "wax poetic." When it sounds a lot more like somebody wrote it for him because we all know he couldn't possibly turn a fancy phrase like that in real time, while "thinking" on his feet. Check the wording and the phrasing. Don't be afraid to get a little tin-foily here, either. It IS code. And the religiosos know and speak it fluently. It's like modern art and whether you like it or not. You know it when you see it. It's excruciatingly subliminal and subtle - so the rest of us with our feet firmly on Planet Reality and who aren't all ready to leave in the Crapture Express won't notice. It sails straight over our heads, unless we know to look for things. Use your suspicion as your guide - a lens through which to look at this stuff. If it looks even remotely suspicious, it's very likely to be code. There's usually ALWAYS some sort of sneaky-ass religious or Scriptural whiff to it.

Remember the crowd he's really speaking to, also. They're already nicely preconditioned to symbology, talking in tongues, and seeing Jesus in a piece of burnt toast. It doesn't take much to speak their language and yank their chains. Think UFO conspiracy theorists. They're softened up to it as is, so they'll pick up on all of it. Heck, some of 'em are in so deep they'll see messages that aren't even there, that he hasn't even tried yet.

And I say this as a lifelong Catholic. I'm conditioned to look for mystery stuff, too.

because "Iraq is a comma" didn't make any sense at all to civilians.

The quote that is used by fundy preachers across the country is "Don't put a period where gawd puts a comma," meaning there is much more to come.

That statement on Iraq should be a chilling one to anyone who understands the code except for the rapture addled who want WWIII to hurry up so they can kick Jebus off his throne so he'll come rescue them.

The fact that the quote originated with Gracie Allen and not the bible seems to be beside the point.
