Baker commission rules out Iraq victory
I wonder if Karl Rove will accuse James Baker of "cutting and running" and being there with America "for the first few bullets" but not being there "for the last tough battles"? Or whether Donald Rumsfeld will accuse Baker of suffering from "moral or intellectual confusion" and believing that "vicious extremists can be appeased"? Why? Because Baker's commission, formed to assess the Iraq war and make recommendations for the future, appears to have ruled out any hope of victory:
A commission formed to assess the Iraq war and recommend a new course has ruled out the prospect of victory for America, according to draft policy options shared with The New York Sun by commission officials.

Currently, the 10-member commission — headed by a secretary of state for President George H.W. Bush, James Baker — is considering two option papers, "Stability First" and "Redeploy and Contain," both of which rule out any prospect of making Iraq a stable democracy in the near term.
"Redeploy and Contain", you say? Sounds like another Republican cut-and-runner to me.

2. If any one of them had an honest bone in their bodies ...
... they'd admit that there never was a prospect for "victory" in Iraq ... because the 'boogeyman' that our soldiers are chasing simply cannot be caught.

It's just like the 'war on drugs'. It's a phantom. You can't defeat an ideology, an idea,
a way of life.

It's just too damn bad that this many lives - on all sides - had to be shattered before anyone in the BFEE dares suggest aloud that 'complete and total victory' isn't an option. :(

4. It was a suicide mission ...
... only those committing suicide weren't the planners sending our young Americans off to war.

3. There are people who still insist we didn't lose Viêtnam either
Although I wouldn't mention that too much around the war vets at the VA; they seem to hold a different view that's supported by facts.

5. Looks like Pappa Bush got Jimmy to some his bidding
Reports that Pappa Bush was pissed at his monkey boy have finally come to fruition with James Baker shoving the monkey boy's nose in a pile of rotted, bloody collateral damage.

Next up is Baker telling Kissinger to take a hike from the White House. There is space at the Smithsonian Dinosaur Museum to put Kissinger in.

6. .. I thought Poppy sent JB in to clean up Dimson's doo doo ...
... at least, that's what Dimson's business history seems to reflect (not to mention the Forida Recount Fiasco) ...

 Wonder how Baker feels, being the world's highest paid babysitter ??
