An Atlanta talk show has a picture of Korea at night.
He said he got it from Drudge

It's not too complimentary to the North.

Here's a link to the entire earth at night It's a composite from NASA

2. And you are posting right wing drudge crap here why?
Yes North Korea is dirt poor when it comes to energy resources, and lots of other natural resources as well.

Did your right wing talk show also mention that we have maintained a state of war (although within the boundaries of a 50 year truce) with North Korea?

Should we attack them (and of course don't forget to mention that, as everyone knows, Kim Jong Il is LOONEY) because they are very poor, or because they have dared to ignore our ultimatums?

8. "He said he got it from Drudge"
Sorry if I suspect anyone posting anything from that creep. I still have no idea what the point of the post was. Cool picture? North Korea bad place? I give up.

I think today I'll post pictures of North Korea attributed to Drudge. Why?

9. It didn't originate at Sludge. I imagine it's been put on thousands
of websites...I suppose it does show NK is a 'bad place' by certain standards. I can't imagine any
DUers denying that.

3. I didn't know the Nile glowed like that!
A couple interesting questions popped into my mind...

How did they do that? It would have had to take multiple pictures over several hours to get a picture for each time zone at night like that...

Is there a Trans-Russian Highway out there? Looks like almost a railroad in the middle of the country...

What does Mongolia do these days anyway?

4. When I found this picture...
...on NASAs site they had comments about it (now gone - I think)

They said it was a composit of thousands of picrures - that's why there's no clouds.

6. Trans-Siberian Railway.
Massive Soviet project. Along the way are high-voltage transmission lines. Russian migration and settlement (as opposed to the local tribes/ethnicities) followed it, and branched north. Lots of grey, de-industrialized or formerly industrialized cities along it.

Most of Egyptian population lives along the Mediterranean or along the Nile.

Don't know squat about Mongolia. I note that Africa comes off looking under-electrified.

5. If it's crap, it's NASA crap.
When I heard from a friend that Neal Boortz had a picture of Korea on his site it reminded me that I had downloaded this picture a year ago. I appears that they put it back on 10/1/2006

The picture on Boortz's site is just a crop of Korea.

Here's the original URL:

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap061001.html

It was published on the "Astronomy Picture of the Day"
