Or Repugs. I think for this election cycle. Probably be Santorum and Sensenbrenner. THis could be a long list. Who is freepier? Or freeperiest.

I had a taunting email ready to send on election night 2002. Four years later I'll spice it up and it will feel even better.

Also, Jim Gibbons, if we can somehow come from behind and defeat him here in Nevada. He would be a national laughingstock of monumental proportion if he were in a high profile race. He makes Bush sound like an alltime genius.

6. Depends on what you mean by going down. Losing or going to jail?
Jail:

Frist - Insider trading
Nay - taking bribes
DeLay - go hammer some bugs
Hastert - Land Deal
Bush - although I'm not sure he would count, since he was selected, not elected
Cheney - goes without saying

Losing:

Santorum
Mean Jean
Conrad Burns
I wish we could get Bunning out
The repuke that "won" in San Diego for Cunningham's seat
Lieberman - I'd love for him to lose
King in NY
Orin Hatch - unfortunately, not likely at all
Blackwell in Ohio
Katherine Harris - need I say more?

and many more that I am too tired to think of for both categories

7. Robin Hayes pisses me off routinely.
Edited on Sat Oct-14-06 02:35 AM by Jamastiene
He's more local so I would actually benefit if he lost. It's a long story, but years ago I signed a petition to tell him I wish he'd vote to enact Federal Hate Crimes legislation to include gay people. I even went so far as to reason with him in an email. I was so naive and hopeful back then. You don't reason with Repugs. They are missing that DNA strand or gene or whatever allows logic and reason to enter the human brain. Anyhow, he sent a long, laborious letter back saying that he didn't think we should have hate crimes legislation at all. By the time I finished reading it, I understood that we can never reason with those types. It's impossible. We need to un-ass them from Congress the good ol' fashioned way; un-elect them.

Of course, Chimpy's entire administration and all his cohorts in Congress could be kicked to the curb this election cycle and I'd be happy about it. I wonder if that has ever happened in any voting country who has a choice. Has an entire party ever been unseated in favor of the other party in a fair election. I would guess no, but it is very, very nice to dream.

10. Hayes is part of the problem in Washington.
He has never worked a day in his life, is an heir to the Cannon fortune, and is a pompous ass. (Sounds a little like George Bush.) He does not care about what the people in his district want and need. He is tied to big oil companies and drug companies and is nothing more than a rubberstamp for Bush.
But there is good news! Last night the polls were showing Larry Kissell , his challenger, was leading 51 to 40. Let's just hope those people will actually get out and vote. It is crucial!

21. 'An entire party being unseated' very nearly happened in Canada in 1993
Brian Mulroney, the Conservative Prime Minister, became intensely unpopular, and retired; Kim Campbell took over; and there was an election a few months later. All but TWO of the Conservative MPs lost their seats.

^ Now c'mon, that's just mean spirited plain and simple!

I think Ginny's cute, in a sorta "East German Women's Olympic Team from the movie Top Secret" kind of way. ;-)

The question is...whether or not her allure and statuesque beauty are enough to overcome the fact that she knew about (and kept quiet), Mark Foley's drunken visit to the pages' dormatory, presumably to round up some child flesh to participate in his perverted sexual fantasies.

Mission accomplished, way to go Ginny!

11. As far as elected officials goes...
Arnold needs to get out of California and find a new gig. His "Ca-li-forn-ya" spiel has gotten stale; it almost seems like there IS a robot underneath all that ultra bronze stage makeup and hair augmentation supplements.

I've heard Roids are a gateway drug to that sort of death spiral with beauty products. Well that, and they also lead to--ahem--performance related issues.

Seems to me getting absolutely nothing of substance accomplished while in office would certainly qualify as not being up for the task, Arnie. Impotence is not just limited to the bedroom, as I'm sure you know!

Moving on to the White House, if all goes planned on election night, whilst the results start rolling in, our dear leader Dubya will attempt to pull off a white-powder-caked Terrell Owens inpersonation...

...heck of an exit strategy, Brownie, if I do say so.

And all a direct result of Republican members going down, and in-and-out of things that would make any God fearing Christian blush. And perhaps reach for the shotgun no doubt.

"Time a go huntin' for dem Republicoons that molested my lil' sister!"

So, to summarize, with the red stater's campaigning, press releases, and news conferences, ricocheting across the landscape 24/7, approaching a fever pitch, a shrill whine like a finely tuned pickup truck roaring down to the drive thru liquor store, perpetually stuck in second gear, the Republicans have given us nothing of substance except smoke and mirrors.

And let me get this straight, amid all the hubbabub, the few actions that my Republicans have a clear desire for, is to:

(1) Rape our children.
(2) Drown our poor folk in New Orleans.
(3) Get elected to office.

Sheesh, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to pick the one out of that bunch that doesn't fit.

Now is definitely not the time...for more of the same.

To that effect, I'm proud to be an American; I'm lucky to be alive in a time where one's vote can has the power to bring back morality and decency--for all people--and banish those who seek perversion and thievery.

God Bless America.

Thanks newyawker, it's nice to be here pandering to the liberal base!:toast:

Just kidding, merely a former Republican, turned Democrat, turned radical. I swear, the last transformation was a result of societal changes, and is contra-indicative of a personal choice.

During this time of lies and subterfuge, I choose truth. And if that means visiting so many parts of the political spectrum I feel like Chewbacca in Star Wars, then so be it!

But having arrived--think I'll grab my trusty hair pick, and make a comfy home out of this welcoming destination.

29. Jim Talent in Missouri
He took the Carnahan seat. Mel Carnahan died in a plane crash during the election in 2000. He was leading in the polls against John Ashcroft at the time. Carnahan, though dead, still defeated Ashcroft. Bush made Ashcroft attorney general.

Jean Carnahan held Mel's seat for two years. Then Talent took the seat from her in 2002 when Rove and the neocons used 9/11 and a politically motivated drumbeat for war in Iraq to stampede people.

Bush came to St. Louis a few days ago to raise money for Talent, and Talent was all over the TV with Laura Bush. Talent has decided to embrace Bush rather than run from him. Talent talks constantly about how we have made "progress in Iraq." He said twice in debate (on Russert and on local MO TV) that he would have voted for the war in Iraq even knowing there were no WMDs.

Talent calls stem cell research "cloning" and says he is against cloning. Stem cell is on the ballot in MO (Constitutional Amendment 2), and the Republicans are fighting it tooth and nail. They have TV adds where a distraught teenage girl cries about having to sell her eggs and hurting her health. And there are signs up warning Missourians against "cloning." Talent is selling that like just like the Iraq war.

Claire McCaskill will make a fantastic Senator. She turned Talent every which way but loose during the debate in Missouri. She has the good-heartedness of Jean (and Mel) Carnahan combined with political savvy and communication skills.

49. Poll has McNerney ahead by two points

Poll shows Pombo, McNerney just 2 points apart

Hank Shaw
Capitol Bureau Chief
Published Tuesday, Oct 3, 2006

SACRAMENTO - A new poll released Monday presents further proof that Rep. Richard Pombo, R-Tracy, is in a tight race with challenger Jerry McNerney.

Conducted by well-known Democratic pollster Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, the survey of 413 likely voters done last week shows McNerney leading Pombo 48 percent to 46 percent; this is within the poll's margin of error, so the two are in a statistical dead heat.

Pombo spokesman Carl Fogliani dismissed the survey.

"They must be polling on Fantasy Island," Fogliani said. "We never release our polls, but that's way off. McNerney never gets out of the 30 (percent range) in our numbers."

But more than $425,000 in polling, mailers and phone banking by the National Republican Congressional Committee and the appearance of President Bush in Stockton today for a fundraising event suggests the race is closer than Fogliani says.
