Emails Suggest White House Political Concern Over Foley In 2004; Snow Issues Non-Denial Denial


The Palm Beach Post has published emails between ex-Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) and Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) suggesting that the White House considered Foley a political liability as early as 2004 and asked him not to attend events with President Bush.

Foley wrote to Gov. Bush on Sept. 29, 2004:

Have I done something to offend the White House … I am always getting the shaft … they came to ft pierce a few weeks ago and said I was not allowed to attend … yet joe negron is there …

Tomorrow Potus is in Martin County and I am told I am not allowed to be there either. I can’t quite figure what I have done but this is a continuing pattern of slights … I have constantly put the President in the best possible light on everything from haiti to hurricanes … sorry to trouble you … and I wouldn’t if this wasn’t so frequent …

Gov. Bush responded that day: “I will try to help. I know it is nothing you have done. Promise. I think it relates to debate prep time. Jeb.”

Foley also sent Jeb Bush “a cryptic message in the fall of 2005, roughly coinciding with the time” that a former page complained to Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-LA) about inappropriate emails from Foley.

“I need your thoughts on something … are you in south florida or somewhere we can meet up,” Foley messaged Bush on Oct. 3, 2005.

“I am up in Tallahassee. Will a call suffice?” Bush responded.

Foley asked Bush to call him at his Fort Pierce office or on his cellphone.

At today’s press conference, Tony Snow was issued a non-denial denial when asked whether President Bush didn’t want to be seen with Foley. “As far as we know the answer is no,” Snow said, “but I’ll try to give you an actual definitive .” We’ll be waiting.

This is the key point of the emails. What was the Junta getting in return for its silence on Foley's child molestation? And how has Junta spying and blackmail--and possibly even recruitment of criminals or blackmailable individuals for public office--worked in other cases, on votes in Congress and support of fascist policies?

So it's not just Diebold/ES&S' "trade secret" vote counting that they've held over Congressmembers' heads (direct control of the voting results under a veil of corporate secrecy)--it's a wide range of crime syndicate-type tools, from addicting people to lavish life styles with perks like the child prostitute ring in the Marianas, to threats of exposure and "swiftboating" and possibly even graver threats such as the anthrax attacks, all of which yielded obedience on the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, multiple tax cuts for the super-rich, and complete lack of oversight of Cheney's and Rumsfeld's activities.

I've been wondering about the widespread use of blackmail--and also the "swiftboating" technique (made so easy by the corporate news monopolies)--ever since the events in California, where our good Secretary of State, Kevin Shelley, was driven from office on entirely bogus corruption charges, after he had sued Diebold, demanded to see their source code, and decertified the worst of their election theft machines, prior to the 2004 election. Shelley was attacked and driven from office on what turned out to be completely baseless charges. He was prevented from doing his job, tied up in hearings, the Bushite election feds were threatening a witchhunt, he had no personal money to pay lawyers, the Democratic leadership abandoned him, and he resigned (2/05). He was then replaced by a Schwarzenegger APPOINTEE and Diebold shill, Bruce McPherson, who has now ILLEGALLY RE-certified Diebold touchscreens. And all of this was done with the Democratic Party having 2 to 1, and 3 to 2, majorities in the state legislature. The new state party legislative leadership seemed anxious to go along with it; some Democrats colluded with corrupt county election officials to get rid of Shelley, some hid under their desks, some were strongarmed into silence.

So the question is: Have our Democratic Party leaders lost their minds, or what? Diebold is a REPUBLICAN corporation. So are its brethren ES&S (even worse rightwing connections), and Sequoia. And our leaders WANT these corporations "counting" all our votes with TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code?

It doesn't add up. Unless you think about spying and blackmail, and fear of "swiftboating," and possibly worse.

Can't have honest people in government. Shelley was honest, and genuinely trying to do his job--protect the integrity of our elections. Not permitted. If you're not a crook already, they will just make shit up to get rid of you, and put corrupt and more malleable people in your place.

Nancy Pelosi was right--not that I'm a big fan of hers, but she hit a nerve when she recently said we need to CLEAN HOUSE. She was talking about The House. I'm talking about the whole country. And we need a BIG BROOM.
