I for one am really concerned about losing AAR or it being morphed into
a lesser political version.

Has anyone studied the issue especially concerning how listeners can help the AAR stay on the air.

Hell if it came down to it, I'd send a few bucks to them if it helped.

Any ideas?

I think they may just have to swallow their pride and get a check from Soros.

5. They got a little money from George Soros and ...
...I'm sure they'd like a lot of money from him, but it's his decision.

2. They ARE going to stay on the air in one form or another --
Even if they wind up in syndication, instead of having a home-base radio station of their own - they will still be on air and on internet across the nation.

3. Air America's demise was predictable.
I predicted it here on DU over a year ago.

The graph indicates that there was just not much public interest.

9. The spybot "miner" is removed by smart folks- I guess Dems are smarter :-)

But I agree your chart shows that GOP interest on AAR died out after the election.

The histogram of keywords appearing on internet sites which correspond to a belief, technology, product or company is about as valid as the spybot "miner"'s results.

So the buzz on what internet sites are the predictors of the future, at least to the point that you use those sites in your word counting? As an aside, do you capture the whole site on a regular basis and run it through a pattern recognition word or phrase search and count? How do you avoid counts of words in yesterdays posts?

:-)

12. I have found that most people are simply not aware that it exists!!
It seems that word of mouth is the only way to find out about it. I have told many people about it and they love it!!

With no advertising about the station, how can there be any interest?? If more people knew they would be hooked on it, I have no doubt.

Remember, more than half of this country can't stand the Bush regime and feel that the MSM is not reporting the truth.

6. I think they need to rethink really their line up...
Much of the line-up makes for bad radio. And the morons fired Malloy - the best radio personality they had. If they want people to listen, they need to get rid of wishy-washy, deadly boring personalities like Franken and Springer, and push personalities who are edgy, and who push the limits. Schultz may seem to contradict this(yes I know he is Jones Network), but even though his politics are middle of the road, Big Eddie is a personality and he takes calls. The show is interactive. Some AAR personalities won't even take a phone call, and if they do, they are few and far between.

The best line-up, for me would be: Malloy, Rhodes, Thom Hartman, Sam seder, Peter Werbe, Stephanie Miller, and yes, even big ed schultz. These are people with personality and who draw an audience. I kind of liked Marc Maron, too, but he was a little self indulgent at times. Erudite is great, but it makes for shitty radio.

7. People have to get real.
Liberal talk radio is NOT dying. It is flourishing. So what if AAR has competition where it didn't before? That's good!

More and more people are listening to Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz. They are tired of the RW bullshit.

Our time is coming, folks. Don't be so sad.

15. Ah, I see. So all these programs are
not necessarily AA? There are 3 stations I have set on my car radio: 1600, 1300 and 1200. Depending on where I am they come in and fade out. It's very frustrating! Much worse than when the station was 1190. But what I have noticed is that usually what's on 1600 is different from 1200 and 1300 which is usually the same.

11. No offense Rachel Maddow fans, but she's just not a good
on air personality. She enunciates like a school teacher. Like she has to talk down to the dumb folk. Laura Flanders is also too condescending, IMO.

10. Clintons want complete control over Dem voices the next two years.
A looser AAR format would have way too much anti-Hillary rhetoric for their liking. And would give other primary candidates more of a forum than the standard corporate media will - they'll all be pushing for Hillary, and she knows it.

16. That is how the Phoenix
affliate was able to stay afloat. Not only did the local mom and pop businesses step up to the plate and provide the needed money so did Joe Public. Now if Phoenix, in the middle of a red state could do it so can many others.
