Murtha Campaigns Against Rival Ohio Rep.

Democratic Rep. John Murtha campaigned for a fellow Democrat Saturday in the district of the Republican congresswoman who assailed his opposition to the Iraq war on the House floor last year.

The 16-term Pennsylvania congressman said there needs to be ''a return to civility'' in Washington and said the Iraq war is a costly failure that's only going to get worse if U.S. troops remain.

''The Iraqis have to figure this out themselves,'' he said.

During his visit, Murtha also helped raise funds for Wulsin, a medical doctor and former public health officer. He said little about Schmidt, saying his main campaign mission is to get a Democratic majority in the House.
