Mitt Romney, GOP rising star, catches Thatcher vote
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2404312,00.html

IN an essential rite of passage for American politicians, Mitt Romney was ushered into the presence of Baroness Thatcher at a Washington think tank last month. If not quite an official anointing, the handshake and chat with so venerable a figure was an unmistakable sign to conservatives that he was “one of us”.

The improbably handsome right-wing governor of left-wing Massachusetts is generating enormous buzz as the conservative with the best chance of beating the independent-minded Senator John McCain for the 2008 Republican nomination. When his term in office expires in January, Romney is expected to throw himself helter-skelter into the presidential race.

Romney is already crisscrossing the country as chairman of the Republican Governors’ Association, bearing large cheques and a ready smile for candidates in the November mid-term elections. His meeting with Thatcher was swiftly incorporated into his patter on the stump.

“Can you imagine? It was such an extraordinary honour to be able to sit down with her person-to-person,” he said in his first interview with a British newspaper. “We talked about the condition of the world and I said, ‘I’m optimistic that we’ll overcome these problems,’ and she paused and said, ‘We always have’.”

1. Puke!
:puke:

People need to take a hard look at the Mittster's hands-off and
largely absentee governance of Massachusetts. Mittens came to
Mass. vowing to clean up this one party state. But as soon as
the going got tough, Romney got going... everywhere but here.
After his 2004 effort to boost the GOP in the Legislature failed,
he promptly set his sights on Washington and jumped on the
national stage.

Mitt Romney is a 100% BushBot but he lacks substance.

2. That would be the senile Thatcher with the son who should be in jail for
financing coups in Africa?

3. The tone of that article is indeed pukeworthy. We don't do Queens over
this way....and I rather doubt the Iron Lady, rightwing freak though she is, sees any equivalency between her Ronnie and that pomaded, hair-dyed, carpetbagging Skeletor.

She came over here to do some shopping, maybe see a decent stroke doctor, under the cover of a "business" event, and met the latest crop of rightwing dipshits. Suddenly, that implies an "endorsement." Please. If I rode on the same plane as Barishnikov, does that make me a frigging ballet dancer?

If you actually need proof that this article is bullshit, check this sentence out: Romney looks like a taller version of Martin Sheen in The West Wing, -- Well, if being a human male equates somehow to "looking like" someone, I guess so....

Then, they make fun of him for speaking French, as though here in the US it's a firing squad offense. Run and hide, David Gregory!

And if there was any doubt where he sits, the endorsement by the drunken doyenne of problematic relationships, Laura Ingraham, seals the deal.

This is the asshole who traveled to IRAQ to get PICTURES of himself with the troops, while Massachusetts flooded and the LT Governor strutted around in a hardhat and left without offering displaced people any guidance or hope. When the Big Dig killed a woman, he went on a firing spree, but it turns out he certified that inspections were made that were NOT, in fact made.

Yeah, he's a real prize, that Mitt the Shitt.

4. If Thatcher supports him...
then that's all one needs to know; he's a horrible right-winger and shouldn't be elected!
