Iowa Poll: Culver takes 7-point lead over Nussle
Edited on Sun Oct-15-06 04:17 PM by cal04
Race is fluid, although many independents back Democrat
Democrat Chet Culver has moved ahead of Republican Jim Nussle in a hotly contested governor's race that was tied a month ago.

A new Des Moines Register poll shows Culver leading Nussle, 46 percent to 39 percent, among Iowans who say they definitely plan to vote, or who have already voted, in the Nov. 7 election.

The Iowa Poll, conducted over four days last week, has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

(snip)
Among likely voters backing Culver, 82 percent say their minds are made up. Among Nussle's supporters, 73 percent say they've locked in their vote.

4. Here's my all-time favorite Nussle quote:
"My biggest fear is going to be going to the funeral of some young Iowa man or woman who dies in this conflict and having their mother or father come up to me and ask whether or not their son or daughter died for America, or died to save Bill Clinton's presidency. I don't know what I would say to those grieving parents. For that reason I believe the President must resign immediately." - Rep. Jim Nussle (R-IA), Congressional Record, H11963, 12-18-98

6. Culver just needs to say - If you want to bring Washington to Iowa
Edited on Sun Oct-15-06 07:19 PM by nickshepDEM
Nussle is your guy. If you prefer something other than politics as usual Washington/Bush/Delay style, Im your man. I am Iowa, Nussle is DC.

Game over, thanks for playing.

8. That's pretty much what Culver has been doing...
He's got this great ad that points out Nussle's voting record (Bush agenda rubber-stamping) and has this voice over say "Nussle's gone Washington".

7. This is the greatest news!
I started to worry when Nussle gained a few points over the summer. We need to keep fighting and build a solid lead.
