If we win back the house you can thank a Pennsylvanian!!! |
|
So far it's looking like we'll get THREE seat pick-ups in Pennsylvania with:
PA-06 - Lois Murphy PA-07 - Joe Sestak (ridding us of Curt Weldon) PA-10 - Chris Carney (replacing the adulterer Don Sherwood)
All of these folks are polling very strongly!!
Now, we just need 14 more seats from the rest of the country and it'll be John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (makes you drool thinking about it doesn't it!)

4. That would require Lynn Swann defeating Ed Rendell |
|
Gov & Lt. Gov in Pennsylvania is one ticket - like Pres/VP. Lynn Swann looks like he's he's playing Pee-Wee football against the very dominate Team Rendell. Even Pittsburghers know better than to vote for that guy. So if Swann doesn't win - neither will Tweety's brother

County commissioners control what machines are used ... We have a three seat county commisioner board, with two repugs ... Despite strong public calls for a paper trail, they went with the new electronic machines with no paper trail, citing costs for addition to the machines that would have given receipts ..

5. Just came back from a weekend in PA (Lancaster to be exact) |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-15-06 05:37 PM by woodsprite
and I was really surprised. We were at a farm on a hayride going and the farmer got to pouring his heart out. Definitely not the speech I was thinking we would hear. He didn't mention anyone by name, but really laid into how American farmers are being treated and if anyone on the wagon hoped to help the farmers in Lancaster Co., and other areas of our country, they need to start a letter-writing campaign to their Senators, Reps and the President himself. His farm just had to sell his dairy herd, and he said other farmers are having the do the same thing.
Apparently we're bringing in outsourced dairy (he didn't go into real definition of what he meant) and the local farmers are taking a real hit. He said they thought they might make/or break even if they increased their herd to around 400-500 head (up from 150), but he said that the USDA has put a restriction on that saying that you need 2 acres of farm for each cow, and Lancaster farms run between 75 to 150 acres average. He said the people running DC are diggin the American farmers graves and they could care less, so someone needs to stick up for them. He said they have their priorities all screwed up. I was floored because up in Lancaster you were seeing Bush/Cheney signs almost at every house during the last election. This weekend, I saw 2 Santorum signs and that was it.
When I got off the wagon, I told him I would definitely write and I'd pass the info along to 90,000+ friends. :) If he's been giving that speech on every wagon ride (one every 15 minutes) with 50 people on the wagon, all day long and at night, he's getting a message out to locals and visitors alike. Their hayride/harvest festival is over the last weekend in October, so he's hitting lots of people before election. ;)

the Bushites have been frequenting Lancaster over the past several years.

14. I don't think we are fielding a candidate on the Democratic side, are we? |
|
There was a young veteran running early on, but he dropped out I think. Maybe I'm wrong, though. I lived in the Valley for 14 years until 2002. Since then I'm down here in Reading with Timmy Holden as my Congressman, and I'm loving every minute of it! I was born and raised in the Williamsport area and I've sent $100 to Chris Carney so far. Man, would I love to see a Democrat finally representing my home area.

in the last 12 years, I hope the Repugs don't see another majority in the US House until 2099.
Isn't Patrick Murphy guy in PA, too. I hope he does well.

CO-03 Jay Faucett over Doug "Focus on the Family-endorsed" Lamborn CO-04 Angie Paccione over "Bitch from Ft. Morgan" Marilyn Musgrave (polls show dead heat) CO-06 Bill Winter over Xenophobic Tom Tancredo CO-07 Ed Perlmutter over O'Donnell (who's already in trouble)
We may even bring a Democratic sweep over Republicans, landing 7 Dems to Zero Repubs representation from Colorado.
And we will bring in a Dem governor for the next four years (and properly redraw the district to kick out Republicans)

21. I hate to bring you down, but |
|
The latest polls show Paccione down by 10 and the DCCC is shifting resources out of that race. Bill Winter isn't going to win by any stretch of the imagination. In the 5th, though, Fawcett has a real shot and is getting the resources that had been in the 4th. If you're going to donate, donate to Fawcett at this point. And, a definate ray of hope, Perlmutter will likely beat ROD by a healthy margin.
So that's one practically in the bag and one definate possibility, from a state with just 7 seats!

27. I don't know - he's the only one lagging behind |
|
Which shocks me for that district because it's pretty moderate to liberal in that area. I use to live in Buck County and I can almost guarentee you that both Rendell and Casey will win that county but yet they'll still go repuke for house.
Crazy thing is - for about a decade, they were represented by one of the most liberal republicans in the house, Jim Greenwood. So it shocks me that they would accept someone like Mike Fitzpatrick, a clearly right-wing wackjob

|
She said she's already talked to her son and DIL and they are bothvoting a straight Dem ticket. She also told me about 4 of her friends who usually don't bother to vote. She has convinced them of the importance of this election, and even voluntered to pick them up and take them to the poll! All have promisedto vote Dem.
She said the word in Pgh is that Samtorum is DONE!!!!!
