It was three and a half years ago. Helen Thomas, arguably the dean of the White House press corps and a journalistic institution, made an off the record comment to another journalist. It was January of 2003. The comment, since institutionalized as an attributed quote, was "This is the worst President ever. He is the worst President in all of American history."
