LAT: Rasmussen poll shows CA Governor's race narrowed to 9 points

New Poll Has Angelides 9 Points Behind Schwarzenegger

A new Rasmussen Research Poll shows Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger leading state Treasurer Phil Angelides by 9 percentage points, campaign sources said. Other recent polls, including the L.A. Times survey, have shown Schwarzenegger as much as 17 points ahead of Angelides.

The new poll — taken last Tuesday and Wednesday — has Republican Schwarzenegger with 49% of those surveyed compared to 40% for Democrat Angelides. Seven percent said they were undecided, and 5% had picked another candidate. The Rasmussen poll surveyed 500 likely voters.

In the Rasmussen cross tabs, 24% of voters said they had a "very favorable" view of Schwarzenegger, compared to 10% for Angelides. Thirty-three percent said they had a "somewhat favorable" view of Schwarzenegger, while 34% were in that category for Angelides.

In total, 57% of those surveyed had a favorable view of the governor, compared to 44% for Angelides. As for the negatives, 42% of those surveyed had an unfavorable view of Schwarzenegger, while 53% disliked Angelides.

Remember, folks, this is just a snapshot. Some people don't like the Rasmussen poll because it uses automated questions. Others think they have done well....

It isn't going to happen this time.

5. And I hope Angelides wins
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 12:18 AM by rpannier
The campaign he's run so far has seemed almost invisible.
If he wins, I'll be damned happy.

on note: I can't figure out how Angelides has been unable to capitalize on arnies failures as governor.
Since you're from California -- What's going on?

13. What's going on? Cash flow!
Forget the fact that we have (gee what a surprise) another shitty candidate. Der Gropenfurher has tons of money from big oil, big pharma, etc. Phill has a few bucks from folks like me and not much support from the Vichy DLC.

7. Willy "money man" Brown has already called it for Arnold.
Kind of interesting what passes for Democratic loyalty.

11. I suspect they pulled out the friend of the rich, W. Brown, BECAUSE polls
showed Angelides moving closer.

8. Groper Was Polling in the 30's Until the Media Switched Into Election Mode
Once the media switched into election mode, the Gropernator's ratings jumped 20% overnight.

12. Very true. I think people don't appreciate how much the media pulls for
Arnold.

It would be such a huge coup for Democrats to overcome that.

9. The incumbent is a disgraceful excuse for a public servant.
Angelides would be way more than better, and I hope the national blue wave gives us the governor's chair in the Golden State.

A repudiation of the short, thick, and inappropriate term of Gov. Schwartzenegger by California voters would be awfully good news in the Nov. 8th headlines.

Go, Phil.

14. I think what is helping Arh-nuld is the fact that we are more worried...
...about the US Senate and House.

For many, hell even perhaps for me, another 4 years with him as Governor is not gonna bother many of us as with having the repukes control US Congress for 2 more years.

I think Arh-nuld is an idiot but hopefully after he's done with California he can retire from politics and slowly fade away. I think after that special election fiasco he tried with getting those initiatives passed (and they all failed) has shown Arh-nuld he needs to work with the California Congress and the people of California if he wants to get anything done

16. It sounds to me like you've got it exactly right.
I'm as guilty as anybody with being obsessed with winning back the Congress.

We'd be a lot happier with Angelides in there, but I sure like your "fading away" for Schwartzenegger (and sooner would be better than later).
