Because the later sort of suggests the notion that interest in elite good old-boyism wasn't a passing collegiate fancy.

I mean, it bugged me somewhat when he was running for president, but not so much anymore.
(It bothered me that another rich, white, Yalie was running for president -- or rather that what qualified a person for the presidency in 1789 still hasn't changed. That bugged me. I'm not so certain all Bonesmen take a vow of evil, though.)

infuriatingly obtuse about the rest of America out there.
As much a part of the elite as John Kerry is and was, his real claim to that high station was the fact that his mother was a Forbes. His father's family didn't have much money or status. Plus he was Roman Catholic and at his NE prep school (I forget which one)that marked him as slightly declasse. It is so stupid, really.
My first husband was a New Englander and a Harvard man. He has just never gotten over it. It means everything to him, when you get right down to it. I think it is sad.

But some people feel the need to attribute salacious, sinister, and evil motives to anything outside of public view. Skull and Bones was just an elite club for rich kids at Yale - big deal. Bush was in another fraternity as well - Delta Kappa Epsilon, if I remember right. I guess every kid ever in DKE at Yale should be under suspicion for being in the same frat Bush is in?

a diplomatic post.
It bothers me that our allies regard us as an entity no longer to be trusted, never mind admired.
It bothers me that top-drawer scientific endeavors are discouraged or shelved by the Bush administration.
It bothers me that Condoleezza Rice, the political equivalent of whipped cream, is the Secretary of State.
It bothers me that the Far Right Nutcase Fundies lined up in the goddam rain to vote for a ticket that cheated to win.
Twice.
That's what bothers me.

77. Bush's SCOTUS picks bother the hell out of me. |
|
But I'm sure the dishinest smear artists here would tell us that S&B would have ordered Kerry to pick the same ones. Nevermind the fact that he led the Alito filibuster and voted against them both.

82. Bush's SCOTUS picks -- yes. Good catch. I should have included |
|
the acute sense of dread I have that he'll have an opportunity to choose another one before he's finally run out of town on a rail.
Roberts is bright but frighteningly conservative and Alito was ghoulishly frightening, period. Kerry was there to provide clarity, had this president the wits about him to listen.

both were losing issues, but it made Kerry look like something in lead up to the road to 08

85. Feingold's vote in support of then-AG nominee John Ashcroft does |
|
not disqualify him for the presidency, or for fair consideration for a presidential campaign anymore than Kerry's votes in the Senate preclude similr runs for him.

86. I see- this must be one of his "evil deeds" that you promised to present. |
|
Hmmm- Kerry led the Filibuster- that's IT- yeah-and he went on record disagreeing w/ Feingold- yeah- I'm convinved -he is certainly S&B.
I was thinking that his Child healthcare iniciatives was the real S&B plot, but your S&B plots are spookier and make MUCH more sense.

You are right- you never did promise to present any evil deeds that Kerry performed, b/c you dont have any information like that- except what you make up.

91. Most 2nd graders distrust a classmate who cheats at dodgeball. |

What bothers me is that Bush-Cheney cheated both Ohio voters and the nation's voters who supported two consecutive Democratic tickets.
Dr. Fate is exactly right to suggest that Bush's SCOTUS nominations have been disastrous for civil liberties, and will continue to be.
So in that double-cheating scorecard are long-term deficits to our national identity and spirit.
That's what bothers me.

The moderators have reached the consensus that this is a good example of a thread started with an original post that almost mandates that a flamefest will follow.
Thanks for understanding.
