1. Glad to see him hit the pavement for Mahoney
Clark has certainly been investing his gravitas in the Democratic Party across the nation and this has not gone unnoticed. Glad to hear he's still considering being a contender in 2008. He's earned his bona fides.

3. I agree-- and thanks for saying that.
I hate to see everyone jumping on other band wagons when we have such a perfect canidate who could give Southeners the confidence that Dems could be strong on defense and turn a few Southern states blue. If anyone can do it...Clark can...certainly not Hillary.

9. What Auntie said. Clark has all the boxes checked, IMHO
-Southern
-Extensive foreign policy experience
-Brokered an international peace accord
-Administrative leadership background, including oversight of the health, education, and welfare of military families
-Genuine decorated war hero
-Known and respected throughout the world
-Streets named after him in Kosovo and in Belgium
-Fluent in 4 languages, including Russian
-Articulate on any subject
-A truly warm & kindhearted guy
-He looks like this

We could do a lot worse.

2. Wonderful! Thanks! Was it a rally?
Here's a an alabama newspaper article dated today on Wes Clark viability.

Clark is not as moderate as he is credited in this article, which to me is what we should want; a left of center candidate who is perceived as being moderate. That, in itself, is an advantaged quality.

Wesley Clark a viable presidential candidate
October 17. 2006 3:30AM

Wesley Clark, who visited here Friday, isn’t saying yet whether he plans to run for president. But he certainly talks like a contender.

Should he decide to throw his hat in the ring, he could be a viable candidate for the Democratic nomination against unannounced front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Clinton, at this stage, will be tough for anyone to beat. But Clark, staking out his turf as a moderate, may appeal to many wary voters.

He has a strong grass roots following. The fact that he has a commanding presence and speaks like the Army general that he was before he retired may make him an especially strong candidate in the South.

In his talk here, he didn’t mince words in criticizing the Bush administration’s failures in Iraq. Clark said the war and occupation have been “catastrophic" and it’s time to “back out of this mess."

Ordinarily, anti-war sentiments don’t play well in the South. However, despite strong early support for the war, a poll shows a majority of Southerners -- 56 percent -- oppose it.

Clark’s call for a phased withdrawal “in a way that preserves America’s credibility, keeps Iraq together as a nation and ensures that Iraq does not become a threat to the region" strikes a sensible balance between the administration’s hard-line position and those who favor immediate troop removal.

His advocacy of direct talks with North Korea on nuclear issues is similarly sensible, as is his call for similar talks with Iran. His background as former NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe gives credibility to his views.

He needs to articulate more of a social program, but among moderates his views on abortion and gay marriage are acceptable. If he emerges as a contender, however, it will be his expertise on the military and foreign policy that drives his presidential candidacy. He’s definitely a person to watch.

5. I want FL-16!
This is not the first visit of the General to FL-16, and it is good to see him lending some weight. I hope you had a good turn out for the rally because Wes Clark is running himself ragged criss-crossing the country for us.

I've watching the numbers, but wonder what your take on ground looks like. Are republicans accually going to put signs in the voting booth? Argh!

BTW, my hope is to straighten out the world which means we need someone who understands the world whose vision leads to peace.

17. It shows how much he's been out there stumping for Dems.
He always works his vocal chords down to the bone like that. I remember it well from '04. He'll need to learn to modulate that a little when he runs in '08.

16. I didn't even know you were a Clarkie.
That's great that you got to see him, and that you got that positive vibe from him. What was your sense of how he was recieved by the people who saw him campaigning? How is that race shaping up? If we can't take a seat from a disgraced pedophile, I don't know what we should do.:scared:

18. Clark is the only possible candidate..
... that gives me any hope for 2008. He's smart, but he also can talk at a level that everyone can understand. He doesn't suffer Republican bullshit gladly, and he can put any smarmy talk show host on their heels. I've never heard a sentence out of his mouth that sounded like platitudes or pandering. He's 10 miles past anyone else we've got. I'm hoping.
