Dear Friends,
During our recent debate, Peter “Rubber Stamp” Roskam really showed his true colors when it comes to the environment. He actually said that global warming isn’t settled and said it was “junk science.”

Here is his exact quote on global warming: “There’s so often times, there’s science that comes about that’s not very clear, and not very settled. And what I think we need to do is resist the temptation to go down a bunny warren of junk science where there is not a sense of clarity and cohesion within the scientific community.”

Congress needs someone who recognizes the threat of global warming, make a contribution of $50, $100 or $200 today.

That’s right, Peter Roskam is so out of touch that he doesn’t think global warming is real. He’s not about to let a little thing like the facts get in the way of his personal ideology.

The next Member of Congress from the Sixth District must take environmental threats and concerns seriously.

Congress doesn’t need another ideologue, make a contribution of $50, $100 or $200 today.

Al Gore has said, “This is not a political issue. This is a moral issue -- it affects the survival of human civilization.”

No person has politicized this issue more than President Bush. Robert Kennedy Jr. wrote, “George W. Bush will go down in history as America's worst environmental president.”

Not surprisingly, Peter “Rubber Stamp” Roskam has embraced the Bush position on global warming.

Put science above politics, make a contribution of $50, $100 or $200 today.

John McCain has attempted to pass legislation regarding global warming. It was blocked by a Congress that is controlled by the oil industry. He said, “We'll win over time because climate change is real. And we will overcome the influence of the special interests over time.”

Peter Roskam’s position on global warming is more akin to Jerry Falwell. Jerry Falwell said, “I don't believe in global warming in the first place, and I don't believe we caused it, and I don't think the science supports it.”

Tell Peter Roskam and Jerry Falwell to put ideology aside, make a contribution of $50, $100 and $200 today.

Al Gore said, “Put simply, it is wrong to destroy the habitability of our planet and ruin the prospects of every generation that follows ours.” He’s right. It is wrong for Peter Roskam to put politics above the future of our children.

I was proud to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters. Unlike my opponent, I have made a strong commitment to promote common-sense environmental policy and I am willing to fight for a cleaner environment, safer drinking water and energy independence.
