Was the Arizona Senate Race a Missed Opportunity?
I think we have a decent chance at taking the Senate but it is going to be very hard. We look certain to gain 4 - getting an extra 2 is going to be the challenge. It's doable, but it'd be nice if we had a little more space to breathe.

Was Jon Kyl vulnerable to a strong challenge? Maybe the problem here is that the State Democratic party doesn't have enough of a bench. But the candidate they recruited, though rich, is totally uninspiring and has a run a completely lackluster campaign. Was there any Democrat in Arizona that could have made this race competitive?

1. Jim Pederson is the right candidate for Arizona. If Jim had been a fire
breathing liberal with lots of charisma, the gop wouldn't vote for him.He has had to walk a tightrope and has done a very good job.He is only five points behind.I think it will be close but he will win.He was excellent in the Debate .Most repugs think he won.And sorry to say, in this state, those votes count for more.If every damn Dem voted we still wouldn't win.We need the Independent and Republicans. And Jim is doing fine with them!

2. I still think Pederson has a chance
I may be a bit niave but I think the polls are wrong about this race. I think Pederson has a great chance for an upset. I know 5 people including myself who already voted in early voting. All of us voted straight Dem ticket here in Phoenix. Now I know that isn't much but I would say if half the people vote the way their mindset is..angry..that Pederson will win.

3. I'd like to see Vile Kyl scared--and he IS!
He's actually running some seriously expensive campaign ads--like on "60 Minutes."

That costs a bundle--millions, in fact. And the good thing is, Pederson has the dinero wherewithall to match him, also running ads on "60 Minutes."

Even if Kyl loses, the GOP will learn it can't take AZ for granted anymore. That's a truly wonderful thing.

11. You have to live here to believe just how backward it is.
The closer into Phoenix you get the more normal it appears to be, but get into Scottsdale, North Phoenix, pretty much anywhere outside the city except for Tempe and, of course, Tucson, and it gets very depressing.

12. Actually if we get those four seats we'll need THREE more
Your assumption is based on the concept that Lieberman will stick with his promise that he'll caucus with the democrats (assuming that the polls do not change between now and election day).

I truly believe that we have a very viable change to win the house but the senate, to me, is still a far-off dream.
