I keep reading all of these huffing, puffing "threats" - "boy, if they steal another election, they're going to wish they hadn't". Reminds me of Peter Riegert's character Boon in Animal House. While the cops are beatin the crap out of him, he's yelling, "allright, now I'm REALLY pissed". What exactly do you think will happen if Whitewell decides not to have an election - just declare himself governor? If the exit polls prove that once again the GOP have stolen the House and Senate? the standard reaply I get is "quit whining". But please tell me, what is going to happen?

Take your pick!

They all oppose the Bush regime. Some do it on political grounds, others do it on religious grounds. Find the one you are comfortable with and become active with them.

Stop thinking along partisan lines. Our political institutions have failed to prevent dictatorship. It is up to us to regain our freedoms, just as it was up to our Founding Fathers to fight for theirs.

36. No, our Veterans for Peace chapter planted an American flag
for each GI killed in Iraq on the war memorial plaza when the count reached 2,500. We are now planning to march on the Veteran's Day parade, even though the American Legion is not happy about it.

There are other groups, for example, I had the privilege of marching with Pax Christi when they demonstrated against Bush when he came to the Notre Dame campus.

There was today's demonstration in front of the White House by a group opposed to torture, they wore orange jump suits.

Sitting around drinking coffee doesn't cut it, unless it is to organize the next mass action.

As to election theft, we could learn a thing or two from our friends in Mexico and their rejection of the stolen election there (I will also add that the striking teachers in Oaxaca are an inspiration to all of us).

IMO, if anything were going to be done, it would have happened in 2002 r 2004. This election WILL be stolen, and we WILL carry on toward fascism just as we have since the original coup in 2000.

Didn't want to be called a "Janie One Note" or worse. So now it's the next day and I just had to reply.

I just want you to know that I agree with what you've said here. I've been asking the same question for such a long time now and get very little response. For a while I posted at least once a week about a REVOLUTION, but even though I had some good conversations, I did get a lot of "Marches Don't Work" or the Media won't cover it and lots of other excuses. That's why I kept asking "What Shall We Do?" I'm STILL asking the question because I feel so strongly that it's going to HAVE to come to an actual uprising by "We The People!" Even if Dems take over it will be a slow process of recovery if any.

We The People need to find some way to show our angst, frustration and OUTRAGE at what has happened to America! Sooner rather than later!! IMHO!!!

Guess I've stated my 2 cents worth and now the balance is about $2,000 in small increments!

26. Kerry did as well - in at least 4 or 5 interviews
and a major speech. Kerry, Leahy, Kennedy and many others gave great speeches against it.

Fineman is lying when he says the Democrats were silent: the liberal, real Democrats were speaking whenerver they had a forum. ("This bill condones terror" is pretty clear, as was Kennedy graphic description of waterboarding and the examples of Japanese soldiers held accountable for torture. this is another case of the cable media not giving Democrats much air time, then saying they were silent.)

Whats important is that they are about to gain power and can then over turn all this crap!!!

I suspect the Democrats made a calculated move not too offer to much opposition to the torture bill for the purpose of maintaining the lead in the elections.

29. The bill was not finalized till a day before
Kerry was on several talk shows, saying things like "Absolutely NO torture, the US does not torture." and speaking of disgust that it was even being considered. Someone upthread said Feingold spoke out. Kennedy issued a strong statement against it. I suspect that the centrist wing of the Democrats didn't speak out - and the liberal wing had difficulty being heard.

We likely could put together a list of shows where people did speak out - but it's clear this is their choosen narrative. (Maybe to support McCain??)

Somewhere (I don't have a copy of the entire bill) I believe chimp-chump now has
the capability to name ANYONE a terrorist supporter, or enemy of the US, or some
such vague, general definition...which if I understand it, means you and I are targetable.
