What is our country coming to.

Do you think there's too much litigation?

1. Too much
They're worried about kids getting hurt? No more of those big wood play areas. Tripping and hurting something? You don't need tag for that. No running.

Recess is play time. If a parent doesn't want their kid to participate they should request it, otherwise it's kids being kids. Free play has been proven to be beneficial to kids for numerous reasons, and that's what Recess is. Free Play. At least it was.

I can see banning Dodgeball, but Tag? Give me a break.

Even TV Tag?

2. Too many control freaks.
I'm not aware of any litigation over playing tag at school.

4. They'll just move their games of tag underground.
Remember: The first rule of Tag Club, is don't talk about Tag Club.

No tag during recess?

The Dungeons and Dragons club declares victory!

5. See also: Teen Plans To Fight Ticket For Playing Hacky Sack
(CBS4) BOULDER, Colo. Boulder police called a recent ticket a crackdown on illegal activity on the Pearl Street Mall but one family said it went too far.

Of all the things Kallen Ford could be doing to get in trouble, the Boulder High School senior didn't think playing hacky sack was one of them.

On Tuesday, Ford said he was playing one of his favorite pastimes when he was approached by an officer.

"I was pretty surprised," Ford said. "The cop walked up behind me and had me sit down and took the hacky sack and he said it was evidence in a crime."

Ford was issued a ticket for releasing projectiles on the mall which is a crime that carries a $250 fine.

6. Playground design is in their sites, too
There was an episode of Radio Times (WHYY, Philadelphia) a few months back with a playground designer who said that all those neat, one of a kind playgrounds we grew up with are a thing of the past. They're being torn down and replaced with cookie-cutter rubber rooms so the kids can't get hurt.

My first thought, and I apologize up front to anyone who might get offended by the name, was how I used to play "smear the queer" in front of a methodist church after school. No adults anywhere. They all had jobs or weren't insane.

For those of you who don't know the game, it was also called "kill the man with the ball." If you need any more description than that, well...sheesh! It's pretty self explanatory.

7. This person has had too many collisions herself apparently:
<snip>

Another Willett parent, Celeste D'Elia, said her son feels safer because of the rule. "I've witnessed enough near collisions," she said.

<snip>

Wonder what made her the doofus that she is? I mean, how are the daughter's of these idiots going to get to be cheerleaders and pom pom girls if chase games are eliminated. How will their little darlings ever get to be prom queen and king. Isn't that usually the most popular girl tied up with the captain of the high school football team?

These women just aren't thinking ahead.

8. I'd rather any daughter I have be the athlete one cheers for
than the cheerer. :) (And, I have a son, right now, and who knows? in my belly).
