Help stop the Swiftboating of our veterans...by Wes Cark
A letter from Wes Clark.
Help him stop those bastards! Donate all that you can. We gotta win this!

Stop the Swift Boating -- contribute to Patrick, Leonard, Eric, and Charlie today!

I live by a simple rule. If you wore the uniform, if you served your nation with honor, and especially if you fought and were wounded in battle, then you have earned the right to be treated with respect.

That's why I am so outraged that the Republican party has systematically attacked the wartime service and patriotism of veterans who are running for office as Democrats. It is despicable -- the sign of a party more concerned about hanging onto power by any means possible than with giving veterans the respect they have earned.

If there is one lesson we learned from the 2004 presidential race, it is that when the Republicans question your patriotism, you have to hit back -- hard.

That's why I'm asking you to support four candidates who have become the latest victims of the Republican "Swift Boat" tactics: Patrick Murphy (PA-08), Leonard Boswell (IA-03), Eric Massa (NY-29), and Charlie Brown (CA-04). Give them the resources they need to fight back against these despicable attacks.

Patrick Murphy

Patrick Murphy is a veteran of the war in Iraq who is running for the House of Representatives. It's a close race -- a recent poll shows him jumping out to a four point lead over his opponent, a first term congressman named Mike Fitzpatrick. And, his campaign is building momentum every day. I believe he can win this race.

Let me tell you something about his opponent. Congressman Fitzpatrick has never worn a military uniform, he has never been under fire like Patrick has, he has never seen war like Patrick has. Yet he hosted a press conference denigrating Patrick Murphy's wartime service to this nation. It's 2004 all over again -- and we can't allow it.

It's not just wrong, it's an outrage. That's why I'm asking you to stand up against the Swift Boating of Patrick Murphy by giving him the resources he needs to fight back.

Leonard Boswell

The second Democrat under attack is Congressman Leonard Boswell of Iowa -- a respected member of the House Intelligence Committee and a decorated 20-year veteran of the Army.

Bob Perry, who funded the Swift Boat attacks on Senator Kerry in 2004, gave $5 million to a 527 group called the Economic Freedom Fund to attack real American heroes like Congressman Leonard Boswell. The EFF has already spent more than a million dollars to "Swift Boat" Leonard alone.

We can't afford to lose Iowa's only Democrat in the House. We need the expertise of veterans like him to add some common sense back into America's foreign policy and wage the War on Terror effectively.

Keep Leonard Boswell in the House of Representatives by donating to his campaign today. Give him the resources he needs to fight back against these despicable attacks.

Eric Massa

I've written to you before about my friend, Fighting Dem Eric Massa. Eric's opponent is resorting to the same tired old attacks.

To know that Eric will return fire against these types of attacks, all you need to see is his reply: "I will go anywhere in the eight counties of the 29th Congressional District and lay my uniform with its 28 personal military decorations on any table next to any uniform he has ever worn, and there will only be one set of stripes on that table. I will no longer stand and tolerate any individual who has never worn a military uniform swift-boating any veteran. That ends today!"

Let's help Eric continue to fight back against such deplorable attacks. Please contribute to his campaign today!

Charlie Brown

Lt. Col. Charlie Brown served our country for 26 years in the Air Force, and he is running to unseat incumbent Republican John Doolittle in California's 4th Congressional district. Since his retirement from the Air Force eight years ago, Charlie has served on the professional staff of the Roseville Police Department while advocating for veterans rights, seniors, middle class families, and the environment.

Doolittle received three deferments during the Vietnam war and "failed to appear" at his selective service examination, yet he has stood idly by while a "Veterans Opposed to Charlie Brown" group -- almost a carbon copy of the Swift Boat group -- has questioned the service of a 26 year veteran.

Give Charlie the resources he needs to cut through these despicable attacks and take his message of change straight to the voters.

I have commanded troops in wartime, and I can assure you: bullets don't distinguish between Democrats and Republicans. In today's world, if you wear the uniform, you are on the front lines.

It's time to send a message to Republicans that we're not going to sit still while they wave the flag with one hand and attack our veterans with the other. Please, donate to these races today.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

6. Kicking for the morning crowd
I know many of us are tapped out, but fighting this swiftboat crap is SO important. Sadly, it takes money, because the repubs pour the dollars into their efforts. The one thing they CANNOT afford is to allow too many Democratic vets in Congress. Voters might figure out that the GOP isn't the party of national defense.
