2008 Democratic National Convention. Where do you think it should be?
Looks like it might be held in Denver.

Since the GOP seems to be putting their conventions in "Blue states", should democrats put it theirs in a "Red State"?

33. Atlanta was a disaster in '88 because of hotels
Delegates had to stay in the suburbs and drive 45 minutes by bus to get to the convention hall. I don't know if Atlanta has changed since then but this is definitely something to consider.

Please we don't need all the crap that comes with a convention. We have enough to deal with every day. Just yesterday a "suspicious package" shut down car traffic on 42 street from 6th ave to Grand Central Station. I don't know how long the scare lasted because I walked down 5th avenue to Greenwich Village for the excercise and then caught the train home.

16. Speaking as a New Orleanian
It might be problematic holding the convention during hurricane season. However, logistically we shouldn't have any problems by 2008. I would also say that if our idiot mayor wants to speak at the convention make sure that somone is holding a gun to his head from behind the curtain and is ready to fire if he deviates from the script.

No city needs it more. It ranks the poorest in the country and consistantly votes Democratic. The plans are done. The Republicans turned them down.

31. Pittsburgh, PA in the future
Pittsburgh would be a great place to have a converntion, a city that has been Democratic since the new deal(we outnumber the GOP 3 to 1) and the city has been a stronghold for union support.

Unfortunely having the convention will have to wait will 2012 and beyond cause the Mellon Arena is so shitty and outdated that the DNC wouldn't even give the arena a passing glance. But after September 20 work will begin underway to get a new arena in play cause that's when the PA gaming board will be issuing the slot license(Long story that I will not get into at the present time).
