overheard: republicans already conceding the house.
I can't reveal my source, but someone I know was talking to a retired republican congresscritter, still active in republican circles, who said off the record that the republicans from their internal polling already know they've lost the house, and are hoping to hold on to the senate.

that's all I can say, really, without giving too many identifying clues.

1. Hopeful, but cautious
We will know on November 8th. Sure they are looking at numbers, but we will see.

2. exactly. we should all be cautious. the only reason I relay this is
(even though I can't explain why), this is a solid source of info.

At the very least it tells us their internal polls are much worse than even the polls we get in the general public. That's a good thing right there.
We can only hope the difference is enough to overcome any election day shenanigans.

3. I've heard the same things...
Reps still optimistic about the Senate, but right now they're definitely planning around the notion that their going to be in the minority in the House after election day.

4. I got a fund raising call from the DNSC and the caller
said that the RNC had given up on the house and was pulling funding from those races to put into trying to save the senate.

We can only hope and stay up late Nov 7.

5. Our polling and sharing of polls with
other Democrats say there is a lock on the House.

Hard to tell on the Senate - depends (in my opinion) on just four races - Tennessee, Virginia Pennsylvania and Missouri.

The NYT Count has been turning more and more toward us for the last month.

6. I think that is a giant "duh!"
They know they are losing the house, but believe they will retain the senate.

Nobody, (D) or (R) comes out and says "we are going to lose", but they know their majority days are over. Still a bunch of tight races to watch though.

At this point, there really isn't any (R) rabbit to pull out of the hat that would make a big enough difference. And it is pretty hard to imagine a (D) screw up that would have national election impact.

Just hold your breath and we will coast it out...

7. All other things being equal...
All other things being equal, I'd be pretty eleated at hearing that. It would validate pre-existing opinions I hold that the Dem's will actually take the House and have an even shot at taking the Senate.

That being said, I've gotten too hopeful too many time over the past six years about elections, investigations, inquiries, etc. and had them dashed at the last minutes by GOP rat-fucking.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, casting my vote and hoping, but I'm not holding my breath...

8. Don't be complacent!
VOTE DAMMIT! Their spin is partly to deceive us into thinking we don't have to vote...

10. Where in my post do you find that assertion?
Perhaps I wasn't clear--the admonition was intended for everyone, not just you. I'm convinced these things are spread to lull us into a sense of false security. Sorry if you're offended, but my comment stands for all: don't take it for granted...

11. I've heard something similar
and that they already are trying to figure out a strategy for committee assignments (since they expect to be losing seats on every committee).

13. I've heard the same thing from a reliable inside source
He works for my state's Republican party doing polling, and he admits that they've given up on the House. He does say, though, that they're pretty confident about keeping the Senate, so we still have work to do.

14. A good reason to redouble our efforts
Let's close this election out. Run through the finish line tape. Let's turn a "paper-thin majority" into a "mandate for change." There is every reason to believe that our efforts will be successful. Work with the attitude that they will. Bring joy and vigor to your work on behalf of Democrats everywhere.
