Call some key voters today!MoveOn writes,
When I met Joel last Sunday, he was really nervous. He was in his living room, preparing to make his first ever political phone call at a Call for Change party. It was tough, but he was committed. So committed, in fact, that he was hosting the party. I asked him how he decided to take the plunge.
Joel told me that in 2004 he just never got past his nerves to take concrete action. After we lost, he swore he'd never sit on the sidelines like that again. So last week, he anted up all the way—hosted his own house party, and, after swallowing hard, picked up the phone.
I'm happy to report that it went great. Our online tool makes it easier than you think to call the most critical progressive voters in the most important races and help get them to the polls. This election's too important for any of us to let our nerves get the best of us. This weekend, it's time to take the plunge.

But the Republicans are drawing down all the rainy-day funds to pour millions of dollars into some of the nastiest personal smear campaigns in the history of politics.2
We can beat that, but only if we throw everything we've got into reaching out directly to the most critical voters—those who share our views but may not get to polls without a friendly nudge or two before Election Day. That's what Call for Change is all about.
Once Joel started dialing at the party, it took a few tries before he reached a live person. It was a Steelers fan outside of Pittsburgh, waiting for the game to begin. They had a brief, cordial conversation—and that's all it took. No problem.
Honestly, not all the calls were fun. A lot of folks weren't home and a few didn't want to talk. But of the dozen or so who picked up, most were quite friendly. And many of the races we're targeting will likely be decided by a few hundred votes—so every call, every conversation, counts. By the end of the party, Joel knew he had done his part.
That's all any of us can do. But to win this election, that's what we've all got to do.
