Foley to page: "You could stay at my place. I'm always up for oral sex"
How Foley skirted rules to pursue pages
Former members of congressional program describe lawmaker’s advances

WASHINGTON - They met on the House floor. He was a 16-year-old political junkie, dressed in the drab navy blazer and gray slacks of a congressional page, rushing phone messages to the members he served. Rep. Mark Foley was tanned and charismatic, a successful politician in his mid-40s willing to joke with him between votes.

They talked perhaps a dozen times. Then at his page graduation ceremony that June, in 2002, he was excited when Foley appeared, uninvited, and dictated his personal e-mail address for the boy to jot in his memory book. "I started contacting him right away," the young man recalled. "I knew a congressman that I . . . talked to online. That was pretty cool."

The messages were innocent at first. But after the young man moved home, he recalled, Foley started asking about "my roommates, if I ever saw them naked." Within months, the congressman was dangling a job offer, "because I was a hot boy," he said. Two years later, when he contacted Foley for advice on D.C. hotels, the congressman wrote back: "You could always stay at my place. I'm always here, I'm always lonely, and I'm always up for oral sex."

The experience of the young man, now 22, who agreed to recount his interactions with Foley on the condition of anonymity, was characteristic of the way the six-term House member pursued the online relationships that, once revealed, forced him to resign from Congress late last month. No one interviewed for this article could cite any instance in which Foley had sex with a former page. Foley's lawyer, David Roth, declined to comment for this story.

2. But he's not guilty because he had a relationship with
a priest, so it's not really his fault. :eyes:

5. There is something seedy about hearing all these details.
Almost voyeuristic. It was the same with Clinton, detailed accounts of his relationship with Monica on the news. It's almost like reading playboy or something. I'm just not sure how I feel about all of this detail. It might be necessary, but it still feels seedy.

7. Hastert was also involved with sexually explicit emails with Foley
Hastert directly implicated in knowledge that Foley was a pedophile and in sexually explicit messages himself:

Foley wasn’t the only Repub. Congressman involved in sexually explicit and suggestive emails:

Congressman Mark Foley and Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert interacted in the past exchanging sexually explicit and suggestive emails that are on record and the Repub. Leadership were aware of: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/6/25857/3685

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/6/25857/3685

On page 186 of Hastert's autobiography he brags that he has a good memory and remembers all. This hardly jibes with Hastert's bizarre story that he didn't remember Tom Reynolds or John Boehner or various aides warning him about Foley after it was apparent to anyone who didn't have his head up his ass that Foley was a dangerous child predator and a severe danger to the congressional page program.

8. Someone on another thread suggests the H/F emails were a joke that
others thought were real and posted elsewhere.
Someone sent them to me without noting there was a question of whether they are real

But the other documentation makes it clear that Hastert has long known that
Foley was gay and a pedophile. So its hard to know how far the coverup really goes

Has anyone suggested polygraph tests to sort out the truth?
