1. After a quick review of some of your threads ....
I have come to the conclusion that you are not really promoting Democratic party interests ....

Honestly: what percentage of the Virginia population :

1) Is Muslim ....

2) Of those Muslims, how many are actually voting for Democrats ?

3) In the end, would Muslims voters, as a whole, help or hinder promoting Democrats ?

I mean, cmon .... Muslims are VERY conservative to begin with ... they identify, ideologically, with the theocratic tendencies of the RW to a strong degree ....

As I said: a review of your threads reveals a knack for asserting some questionable and unfavorable identifications for Democrats ....

Call it what you want ....

3. I'm curious as to what you're basing your opinions on...
The positive impact of the right wing agenda on causes important to Muslims?

While Muslims as a whole may be more socially conservative than progressives, your blanket statement has little relationship to reality.

4. It is obvious what I am saying ...
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 03:10 PM by Trajan
That the Muslim worldview can be more closely identified with a conservative worldview .... in matters of social philosophy and public law particularly ...

I am an atheistic Secular Humanist .... I reject the de facto inclusion of theological precepts into the public law .... Both Islam and Christianity, to a great degree, DEMAND it ....

I reject it in Christians ... I reject it as vigorously in Muslims ....

The point I am making here is: There is no evidence that Muslims have shifted their vote, as a block, to 'liberal progressive' thinking, as it runs counter to their primary theological creed, in many ways ...

It is debatable and contentious, indeed, but that in itself shows that the Muslims are NOT a homogenous block, but a plurality, that on the whole identifies with a social conservative ethic, without any specific identification to the 'enlightened' principles of a Jefferson or Paine ....

I dont see any reason why Muslims would suddenly embrace a worldview that promotes public freedoms that run counter to their own beliefs .... any more than I would expect Falwell or Robertson to accept homosexuality ....

Speaking of homosexuality: What does Islam have to say about Homosexuality ? ....

(Sorry .... just couldnt pass this one by .....)

5. This yellow dog Democrat
is voting Green this time around!

It's patently absurd to think that Muslims as a bloc will vote for the republicans who torture, jail and spy on them.

Your opinion is not based on any substantive knowledge of Islam or Muslims in America.

You might want to check out this link about the support for this Muslim Democrat in MN.

6. And Trajan?
There's nothing "obvious" about your position, other than your stereotyping of Muslims.

9. Theology stereotypes itself .....
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 03:21 AM by Trajan
I havent the time nor inclination to argue the fine points of comparative theology .... Vote for whomever you wish .... convince as many as you can to vote what you think is proper ....

Surely, some muslims will vote 'progressive', as you apparently do .... but there is no doubt it runs against type .... There is also no doubt that IF one were to compare, issue by issue, which camp Muslims would likely abide, it would be that camp which most resembles their own on the issues ....

That camp would be creedal; theistically, and socially, like their own ....

I am a non-believer ....

I am marked for death by both camps ....

Imagine that ....

11. Aint read much, Eh ? ...
Atheism is more despised than Judaism .....

My stance would get me the edge of a sword to the neck in the land of Mohammed ....

You deny this ?

Atheism is a sin worse than apostacy .....

You are entitled to your own view of affairs .... but excuse me if I dont accept them ...

Anyways ... I am done with this ....
