They CAN and WILL steal it even without computer voting.

Recipe for a Cooked Election

by Greg Palast

......In Ohio, during the 2004 Presidential election, 153,237 ballots were simply thrown away — more than the Bush “victory” margin. In New Mexico the uncounted vote was five times the Bush alleged victory margin of 5,988. In Iowa, Bush’s triumph of 13,498 was overwhelmed by 36,811 votes rejected. The official number is bad enough — 1,855,827 ballots cast not counted, according to the federal government’s Elections Assistance Commission. But the feds are missing data from several cities and entire states too embarrassed to report the votes they failed to count.

....Joe Stalin, the story goes, said, “It’s not the people who vote that count; it’s the people who count the votes.” That may have been true in the old Soviet Union, but in the USA, the game is much, much subtler: He who makes sure votes don’t get counted decides our winners.

......The computer scare was the McGuffin, the fake detail used by magicians to keep your eye off their hands. The principal means of the election heist — voiding ballots — went unexposed, unreported and most importantly, uncorrected and ready to roll out on a grander scale next time

Little Lord Pissypants' smug claim that the rethugs will not lose should alarm those charged with making sure all votes are counted.

Paper ballots - completed by the voters - and tallied by a computerized counter - leaves a paper trail and allows fast reporting of totals. Even so crooked elections won't be stopped by a paper trail. Only genuine electoral reform will achieve that goal.

2. Kerry was going to fight when Carville blabbed to his wife
Who naturally told the Shrubco team. I wouldn't be suprised if they then called Kerry and threatened his family

3. If the word came down that the media will just REPORT
Republicans won their elections, and stick by it -- even if they hadn't -- the actual results might not even matter.

4. very true - in Illinois in 1960 Nixon folks toss Dem ballots into the
Des Planes Rive as was Reported in the Police log that reported the recovery of the ballot boxes in the next Spring Flood - as was reported in the Waukegan NewsSun Paper at the time.

That was the Reason Nixon could not challenge Daley's voting the dead in Chicago - the GOP theft downstate was twice as bad.

Of course Nixon did run a legal Challenge right up to Dec 23 (via Committe's he controlled filing law suits). The GOP con about Nixon taking his loss like a man is a bunch of bull - repeated in the major media only by the liars at the Wall Street Journal once in the last decade - and not repeated again even by them after I spoke with the editor of the WSJ (by email) and he agreed - by email - that I was indeed correct.
