Harold Ford - new Evangelist?????? |
|
Saw an interview on Blitzer 7:00 EDT segment with Harold Ford. Honest to goodness, Ford sounded like a "fire & brimstone" preacher! Blitzer asked him why he had changed his positions on gay marriage, abortion, and the flag amendment. Ford said he had not changed his positions - he had always supported laws against gay marriage, been against "late term abortion", and supported an amendment to ban flag burning. For those who know him, is this the real Harold Ford?????

He is a Southern Democrat, but the late-term abortion issue is moot in this state. We haven't had late-term abortions (no abortions after 21 weeks) since as far back as I can remember.
The gay thing and the flag thing: those would, unfortunately, be representing his constituency, which, when polled, supports the flag-burning thing and doesn't support gay marriage.
I live here and I voted for Ford Saturday.

5. In his debate with Corker on CSPAN |
|
the difference between the two was remarkable. Corker came off like a whiny little bitch. Ford has run a near perfect campaign. Although his positions make many of us wince, I have no doubt in my mind he is the perfect candidate for Tennessee. Plus he ain't tough on the eyes, you lucky constituent you.

4. It wasn't just what he said......... |
|
it was HOW he said it. I was, frankly, shocked at the religious intonations.

is that ANY candidate panders to the so-called religious segment to garner a vote. As a Christian myself, I find that repulsive. And, if that what this country has come to, we're in deep crap!

I've been saying for a while the bigger problem the Dem Party has is the Blue Dogs. You could purge the entire DLC tomorrow and what we'd have left are socially AND financially conservative Democrats. If we're going to change the direction of the country, we have to start in rural America first.
